Kim Jun-Myeon didn't fit into the life of an average person and that was made far too obvious by his rigid posture on the crooked plastic chair; his serious frown directed at the assortment of convenience store foods and cheap alcohol. The tent bar was busy, and we were crammed into a corner, his legs accidentally brushing against mine every time he moved.
Two of his gang members stood guard nearby in their vehicles; I came alone. I wasn't scared to kill on my own land.
I turned the soju bottle upside down before twisting it around and clicking the lid off, "I'll pour a drink for you, I can tell you don't you do this a lot." I motioned for the gang leader to pass his glass over to me and then poured in half a glass before cracking open a can of beer and filling the remaining space, "Drink. You may not like the taste, but this is how I like it, so this is how I made it."
Suho eyed the beverage cautiously, as if the bronze liquid would jump up and burn him, "I'd rather we get passed the business aspect first."
I shrugged, mixing my own drink and then downing it in three gulps before pouring myself a new shot, "So, you want to know about Kim Re-Won. What do you want to know about him?"
Suho stopped fidgeting in his chair, leaning over to take the shot glass from my fingers, placing it down on the table firmly, his fingers rough as they brushed mine, his gaze calculating and stern, "About a week ago, a man approached me at my club. He introduced himself as the leader of a rookie gang named the Black Aces. Have you heard of them?"
I shrugged non-committally, stealing my shot back from him and downing it before he could take it back, "Maybe, and what?"
"He asked for an alliance, but I turned him away because I have no use for rookies. Turns out I underestimated them," Suho didn't miss a beat but he did wrinkle his nose as I abandoned my shot glass and turned to a regular glass, filling it up.
"So, what happened?" I muttered, picking at some of the snacks on our table, trying to figure out if I had brought my wallet with me or not.
Suho picked up the can of beer I'd already opened, opting to take a sip, grimacing immediately after before speaking, "Two of my outer circle members were abducted, stabbed and then dumped on my border. They were discovered with aces symbol carvings on both their bodies. After that, I received a bloody knife in the mail with a letter warning me this was the beginning of a war."
I nodded along to his words, eating while he spoke and surveying the other customers to make sure no one was listening in on our conversation, "So let me guess, those assholes are somehow tied to Kim Re-Won, right?"
Suho nodded, pulling out his phone to show me the lit-up screen with a bunch of emails from the same email address, "Kim Re-Won started to email me after the attack. He told me that the Black Aces were under his command and that he had a proposition for me. If I accepted, we would become allies and he would call off any more attacks on us."
I glanced up at him, sticking my chopstick in my mouth to wipe off the sauce, ignoring the clear judgement on his face at my choice of cuisine, "And if you say no?"
"If I say no, he intends to kill all of EXO and anyone who stands in his way of taking over Seoul." Suho smiled up at the owner of the tent bar who came over to place bowls of noodle soup in front of us, but it didn't reach his eyes.
