Kim Yeo-Reom's Pov.

There is truth to the saying 'never trust anyone'; I learnt that the hard way.
I trusted my father and he killed my mother. I trusted my mother and she always turned a blind eye no matter what my father did. I trusted my sisters and they sent me away and undermined me... and then I trusted Chan-Yeol. I shouldn't have. I knew that now, as he dragged me along with him by force, my shoes digging into the ground and my nails slashing his skin in a futile attempt at loosening his grip.
The fight had begun only minutes ago; bullets flying around, orders being shouted, people falling down but I was nowhere near it.
Just as Kim Re-Won had given the order for the fight to break out, after he'd realised Ma-Ra wasn't handing me over, that is was, Chan-Yeol and Ma-Ra exchanged a look, so knowing and fleeting I barely caught it. Seconds later, I was being dragged away behind the abandoned office building that stood at the centre of the scrap yard, once again undermined.
"Let me go, you son of a bitch!" I hung back with all my strength, wrenching him back and biting down on his wrist hard.
He yelped, dropping his hold on me, giving me a few precious seconds to run away but I didn't get far because he followed immediately, gaining speed before I turned the corner and circling an arm around my waist, hoisting me up and carrying me away with him as I kicked and elbowed him.
"Let me go!" I screamed again, trying to kick his knee.
"Yeo-Reom!" His yell echoed through the yard despite the overshadowing of bullets and screams.
I paused in my struggle for a moment, my heart pounding erratically as Chan-Yeol's grip tightened further and he set me down on the ground, pulling me into him, his face buried in my neck, "Trust me, baby...please, I'm not doing this to hurt you."
"How? You're dragging me to God knows where and you won't tell me anything! I'm meant to be fighting!" I argued, hitting out at him again.
"Stop!" He blocked my elbow that soared towards his face, pushing me forward while maintaining his grip on my wrist, twisting it back so my shoulder stayed in an uncomfortable position as he spoke, placing his lips close to my ear, "Listen, I love you enough to go insane. The last few days have been pure heaven and I wouldn't change what we have for the world so why...why do you think I'm going to do something to harm you?"
I shifted in his grip, "Let go,"
"Why do you think like that? So negatively and harshly—"
I shifted again, more rapidly this time. "Let go, it hurts." It was a lie but still, he immediately dropped his hold, instead coming to step in front of me, his fingers tilting up my chin and his other hand resting on my shoulder.
"Ma-Ra and I made a plan, more her than me but it's a plan to try get the best outcome from this fight," He started to explain, "The rest of the members fighting are a distraction; Kim Re-Won isn't participating in this fight, he's going to hide in this building and wait it out. If the fight doesn't go in his favour, he'll blow up those three vans they brought...killing everyone near them."
I eyed him suspiciously, considering his words slowly.
"You and I are going to make sure that doesn't happen. We're going in, together. We're going to get him and you can have your revenge, " Chan-Yeol concluded, tucking his hands into his pockets, trusting I wouldn't run again.
An exasperated sigh left my throat and I felt disbelief grow, "I don't care about revenge, people I care about are fighting for their lives!"
"And we can help them by taking out the person that presents the most threat to them." Chan-Yeol answered easily, reaching his hand out to me.
I brushed him away, closing my eyes tightly, trying to tune out the sound of banging and gunshots. Instead, an eerie sort of memory of someone crying flooded my senses, along with the sounds of loud thumping, of a body being thrown around.
Kim Re-Won had made so many excuses, I was sure. It was in his nature. He'd strangled my mother but he probably told people she'd hung herself. I was no longer a viable witness to his crimes but he still wanted me dead. There's a limit to how far you can run away from your past; it will always come back, crawling onto your shoulders, weighing you down until you're just a shell of a person. I couldn't let that happen again.
"Where is he?" I caved, still on guard.
Chan-Yeol went to reach out to me again but I moved past him, I wasn't ready to forgive something that I should have been informed of much sooner, "He's somewhere in the building, probably towards the front wind—"
"Let's split up and find him. Is your earpiece on?" I started planning in my head,
He nodded slowly, a dull sadness peeking through his eyes.
"Then we can communicate through that. Let's go." I moved towards one of the windows covered with a black plastic bag, tearing it off and propping myself up, manoeuvring across the window frame into the building.
Chanyeol followed behind me, "There's two stairways—"
"I'll go to the left side, you take the right. Contact me if you find him," I paused, cocking my head slightly, "or just kill him, your call."
"Yeo—" I heard Chan-Yeol call after me but I darted ahead using the light on my gun to illuminate the empty rooms in search for Kim Re-Won. I could hear Chan-Yeol's sigh from behind me before he mimicking my actions and going in the opposite direction.
The building was just as abandoned as the yard, with random bits of the walls missing and empty window frames, only a few forgotten chairs remaining and a disconnected landline phone.
I crept up to the second floor, peering around the corner only to face absolutely nothing aside from settled dust. I couldn't see Chan-Yeol so I assumed he had to have gone up to the third floor already. I carefully made my way across one of the empty rooms glancing out of the window down at the scrap yard below.
Día, Kyung-Soo and Yi-Xing were behind Suho's car, aiming and firing repeatedly.
Baek-Hyun, Min-Seok, Jong-Dae and Ri-Ya were engaged in hand to hand combat, holding up relatively well but Jong-Dae already had an wound in his leg.
Ma-Ra and Suho weren't in my line of sight but the other outer circle members were scattered around, some injured, others not. We were holding up well...which meant we had less time to find Kim Re-Won.
Though it seemed I shouldn't have worried about finding him so much because seconds later, a gunshot went off on the floor above me and I knew for certain, it didn't come from Chan-Yeol's gun.
