"Are you asking for my permission or are you informing me of your decision, Mr Park?" Kim Ma-Ra asked me sternly, her stance reminding me slightly of a schoolteacher.
Yeo-Reom had left me in her sister's office shortly after we'd arrive to go take a shower. I already had a thousand questions fluttering through my brain, the main one being why would she think leaving me with Ma-Ra was a good idea? Of all the awkward moments I'd had in my life, this one was the worst; I mean talking to your girlfriend's family about dating her alone was bad enough, but this particular family member carried a gun... that made it slightly worse. I guess I was still luck though, because Ri-Ya had to do other errands and couldn't join us.
"I'm...informing you that I'm dating Yeo-Reom and I'm asking for your permission to allow us to continue as we are?" I was starting to question everything I had ever known as I cautiously watched Kim Ma-Ra sip on her tea, her meticulous eyes never once straying from my face.
She studied all that I was and all that I could offer before she slowly lowered her cup, staring into the inky liquid inside, "Are you aware that Yeo-Reom is not on particularly good terms with us?"
I nodded slowly, eyeing the bowl of mints Ma-Ra had on her table, "I am. She was hurt by your decisions badly; it'll take time for her to recover."
Ma-Ra sighed heavily, pushing the bowl of mints towards me with the end of her pen," Yes, I gathered as much. I don't expect her to understand how complicated this job is or the risks that come with it—"
"Miss Kim, with the utmost respect to you, it's nothing to do with your job. She knows you didn't want her in your way, that's what stings, not the fact you were busy working," I blurted out, keeping my eyes on the mints as I picked up two and placed them in my mouth. Skipping breakfast was a bad idea.
Ma-Ra did not look pleased by my interruption, but she let it go, her fingers only just visibly tightening around her pen, "I'll try and take that on board,"
I blinked at her, trying not to grow intimidated as her face changed to an even more serious one as she unlocked her phone.
"I must say, Mr Park, that your timing is impeccable," She turned her phone screen towards me, the bloody message demanding Kim Yeo-Reom showing on it, "We received this earlier today. I don't need to update you, I'm sure you're familiar with the likes of Kim Re-Won however, although we are familiar with our opponents, we still cannot seem to get ahead of them."
I kept my face blank although my confusion was steadily growing and I nodded where necessary.
She changed the photo on her phone to one of a blueprint of a closed scrap yard in an area not far from where EXO territory began and Lotus territory ended, "I contacted Kim Re-Won before you both arrived. I told him I was tired of this war, I told him I would give him Kim Yeo-Reom—"
My heart plunged to the bottom of my body, "What?!"
Ma-Ra glared, her tone snappish, "Don't look at me like that, I'm not stupid! He won't actually get the chance to hurt her...if the plan goes as it should go,"
I raised a brow, silently asking her to explain.
She sighed again, "Kim Re-Won thinks it will just be my sisters and I arriving at the yard, that is not the case. Suho needed a little convincing, but he has agreed to carry out an attack on the Black Aces; we're going to finish this for good, but I need your help."
