Defying Gravity

There are lots of things
That I will never understand
Like why the ocean loves the shore
But is dragged away from the sand
Or why old bones are thrown aside
Forgotten relics of the past
When to time they are so precious
Dug up and found at last
Or why the stars only shine at night
And are hidden during the day
Why ever hide something thing so nice
No one can really say
But I have lots of other wonders too
Ones that no one else knows
Like why you promised me one thing
But a different way you go?
Or why I have horrible dreams
Where I'm falling down for you
And I reach out to grab your hand
But there's nothing you ever do?
Or why I still care for you
When you've left me all alone
I still keep coming back for you
And end up left on my own
I always wonder why I said
I'd a take a bullet for you
Because you were behind the trigger
And when I died you said, who?
Now I am sure of one thing
As Gravity holds you down
I will fly up in the air
Departing without a sound
I know that you will never fly
Something you ought to have knew
One thing is for sure
Gravity is much kinder than you
