Every where you walk
You leave a set of footprints behind
Sometimes you don't see them
They're something everyone else seems to find
You left them in the ground
When you were leading up the mountain
All those who were lost
And all those who were broken
You left them in the water
Where no one else could swim
You saved them all from drowning
Even in a moment ever so grim
You left them in the ash
Of a volcanic eruption
Where you ran from the city
Carrying someone away from destruction
You left them on the moon
Where you stopped to rest
After journeying constellations
That you loved with such zest
You left them on many hearts
Where you tread so carefully
Past demons and darkest secrets
And locked away memories
The only time you'll know
You didn't leave footprints behind
Is when someone else had carried you
When you couldn't bring yourself to rise
