Left Me

You said that it was time.
I said time for what?
You said you must go,
And were here to say goodbye.
No, please do not go.
Please do not leave me in this place.
Don't you wave your hand farewell
And walk away with such grace.
Don't you get that sad look
With mist in your eyes
And gently shake your head
As I plead, don't say bye.
And then you quietly depart
Looking back only once
To see me standing there
Far away at a distance.
And I stood there and watched
As wings grew down your back
And you lifted them up high
Flew away, broke your pact.
You left me here with no one
You left me here alone
May the time come when these words
Are written on my stone.
One day in the forest
When the fog hung so low
Death took me in its grasp
To where, only God knows.
But I wouldn't make others suffer
I wouldn't let myself leave
I wouldn't be like those
Who got up and left me.
