Wildflowers. That's what your mother use to string up in your hair when you were little. "Heavy the head that wears the crown." Is what she use to tell you as well. Though you didn't understand what that meant when you were four the memory stayed etched into you brain.

She spoke in riddles, metaphors and used quotes from ancient philosophers constantly. By the time you were six you could fully dissect 'a road less traveled' by Robert Frost while other kids were singing Disney songs. That made it difficult to make friends but the knowledge she gave you of the world was more valuable now as an adult.

So you sat in the field with her picking up wildflowers while she recited the poem to you over and over but you weren't four or six.

Looking up to your mother you noticed her cheeks were full and pink, her hands weren't old and fragile anymore. She was mumbling something under breath not telling you the poem.

Something wasn't right.

"It's time to wake up girl." A voice came from your mother's mouth but it wasn't hers it was a mans. A Russian mans.

Your eyes weren't open yet but your other senses were on fire, you head throbbed with a dull ache, your hands were bound over your head with your toes barley scrapping the floor. You could hear a dripping noise and the echo of men's laughter, you were cold. Blinking a few times your vision was blinded by a bright light that was directed towards you.

"Good. You're awake, now let's begin." The voice spoke again.

Someone had taken you.

Hydra.

Avenger's POV a few hours later...

"It's like they are toying with us, going through all this trouble to pop up in random areas for just a few seconds to make us chase them then they hide again." Steve looked at the group who had reconvene in the command room to talk about the failed mission.

"Maybe that's the whole point." Nat told them. "Like a 'made you look' game."

They didn't know that Hydra had been carefully planning these games for months. They had no idea what was going to happen next.

"Where's y/n?" Tony looked around. Usually you were waiting for them in the command room after each mission ready to help debrief.

Bucky shifted nervously before leaning over to Tony. Bucky knew you had only told him about your mother's condition and it wasn't something that he should share with the group. It would be your choice to tell them if you wanted it. Bucky explained to Tony the situation and that he had spoken with you shortly before they had left DC.

As he was telling Tony he was becoming aware of the time, if you would of left the institution you would of beaten them back to the compound.

"She should be back by now though." Bucky pulled out his phone checking the GPS that is installed in your company car.

The little blue dot was still parked outside of the institution, he shot you a quick text for an update. Bucky hated texting, he always told you that he would rather hear your voice or laugh instead of receiving an emoji of a laughing face but this time he felt like a call would be too disruptive if you were taking care of things with your mother.

Just as he was placing the phone back in his pocket Tony's went off. He looked to Bucky giving him a nod indicating it was you calling him. Tony and Bucky exited the command room to taking the call which turned out being a video chat.
