"I know things have been complicated lately, we had that brief time in Bali that was peaceful..."Bucky started to trail off while he pushed your hair back. "You know when I met you I had this whole plan, I was going to sweep you off your feet but it seems like life had other plans for us but if we make it through this I'm out. I want it to be just you and I, run away like you said. Have something normal with my best girl."

His words were intoxicating, so badly you wish you'd met him under different circumstances, like playing chess in the park then a nice coffee date but being an Avenger, being Tony Stark's daughter came with so many strings. Political ones that you thought you had cut when you left the military, heavy burdens that at times made it impossible to breathe.

But what would your lives look like outside the Avengers? Would have a white fence and hydrangeas in the flower beds? Would you have a small clinic in a small town? Would you both be happy without this constant chaos? When people live in survival mode like you both had for such a long time that when it stops, you start creating chaos yourselves.

You let yourself picture it, the white fence, the trivia nights with neighbors and bowling on saturdays. Something normal, boring even and the truth was you knew you'd be happy because he was in ever picture with you.

Pushing yourself off his lap you grabbed both his cheeks searching his eyes for a sense of doubt among his words but you found none.

"Just you and me." You smile softly.

Stepping out into the winter air Bucky's hand stay laced with yours as you walked up the metal gates of the underground base where Bucky had been held for so many years. You hurt for him, you had only been captured by Hydra for mere hours and there it no way you could ever go back into that warehouse but Bucky had been with them for 70 years and now he was being forced to face his past.

"He can't have been here more than a few hours." Steve turn to the two of you as Bucky released you hand and raised his rifle.

"Long enough to wake them up." Bucky nodded entering the dark base.

Traveling down into the depths inside a caged elevator Bucky stood in front of you prepared to  take the first hit from any threat. The elevator stopped with a lunge and loud whine in the bowls of the bunker and the doors slid open. Steve turned and nodded to each of you before lifting the cage and moving into the corridor.

Junk littered the floors, papers, boxes, and desk lamps. All of Hydra's research for a hundred years collecting dust. A loud scrapping noise came from behind the group and each of you turned readying your weapons for who was coming from the other side of the wall.

The first thing you could see was the glow from the arc reaction on Tony's suit and then the flashy red and gold.

"You seem a little defensive." Tony joked pulling his mask up as Steve spaced himself between Bucky and Tony.

"It's been a long day." Steve pulled his mask from his face.

"At ease, Soldier. I'm not currently after you." Tony looked around Steve to see a rifle wielded by Bucky.

Gently you panicked a hand on Bucky's rifle having him lower it. "Then why are you here?" You asked.

"Could be your story's not so crazy. Maybe. Ross has no idea I'm here. I'd like to keep it that way. Otherwise, I gotta arrest myself." Tony shrugged.

He had pulled the string but you also knew that was Tony saying your right, which he rarely ever said.

"Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork. It's good to see you, Tony." Steve lowered his shield pulling him in for a hug.
