Sorry guys things have gotten insane lately on the home front. I promise to update more constantly.

Then SMUT

_______________

Pepper greeted you at the door her long blonde hair flowing behind her, she looked as if she had been getting about as much sleep as Tony had with her deep black bags under her eyes. She gave you a quick hug and point you towards the lab where she said your dad had been all night.

The compound was as same as you left it six months ago, all the furniture perfectly placed and large glass walls donned most areas the only thing missing was the traffic of the team coming in and out from missions or training. It was silent except for the few grunts coming from behind the lab doors.

You pushed open the door to see your dad faced away from you hunched over his suit tinkering like usual. A cup of hot coffee placed next to him as he worked, no doubt he was on his second pot of the day.

You just leaned on the doorframe watching him.

During your time with the Avengers a lot of things came into your life, your father being one. Your life went from a genius college kid trying to find a cure to a warrior of sorts. You were so far away from the person you once knew. You caught yourself wondering if Tony felt the same way from his playboy days.

Tony slammed the arm on the suit down groaning in frustration as he adjusted his glasses.

"Wires loose on the other side." You pushed off the doorframe pulling the schematics up on the hologram and flipping them around for him to see.

Tony whipped around in his stool facing you in shock. His mouth hung slightly agape then his brow began to furrow. Neither one of you knew how to begin the conversation that would need to happen but you both understood the suit.

"See here." You pointed into the hologram before moving towards the table motioning your hands to tell him to move out of the way as you began to work on the suit. "Probably just slipped out."

"Did Pepper send you?" He asked as he watched you work your fingers in past the metal to reconnect the wires.

He already knew the answer to the question but he wanted to confirm it anyways. Slightly nodding your head to him you gave him a sharp reply and continued working.

"Figures." He rolled his eyes.

"I like her, she's good for you." You smile slightly as you connected the wires together bringing the suit back online.

A heaviness hung in the air as you pulled your fingers back out, you didnt want to start off the conversation defending your actions and you knew he didn't want to accuse you. But neither one of you knew where to go from here, people always said time healed all wounds but that wasn't always the case. How does a long lost parent and child move on from 'oh hey my boyfriend murdered your parents/ my grandparents when he was brainwashed by a section from the nazi party'?

After a few moments of silence Tony looked up to you with a smirk. "What do you know about welding?"

"TIG or MIG?" You laughed as he tossed you a welding mask.

And that's how you both spent the rest of the day. Blue and red sparks coming from you welding rigs as you started working on a new suit, you didn't discuss Bucky or Russia you just worked together. Handing each other materials and mapping out designs together making alterations and arguing over the burn rate and what rockets the suit should carry.

There was something your mother use to say about idle hands and all these years later you finally understood. As a psychologist you felt that all problems needed to be throughly talked out but now you knew that sometimes a little space and then creating something together healed wounds too.
