Hey friends i did start a readerXsteve rogers fic for anyone who wants to check it out! Thank you for all the love and support on this fic! It truly means the world to me.________________
It had been a month since T'Challa convinced you and Bucky to stay in Wakanda, also a month since you had spoken to your father. Even though Wakanda was far more advance than the outside world they left you with little to no news on what was left of the Avengers.
Bucky was undergoing treatments with Shuri with a little bit of your help attempting to remove the curse, at least that's what he called it. But you were both given the chance at the semi-normal life you both searched for.
You worked with Shuri in the lab part of the week, if T'Challa needed you for mission you joined the Dora Milaje and you helped counsel any refugees who just needed someone to listen too. You were able to finally find a balance between all of your skills to benefit the world you lived in and Wakanda welcomed you both with open arms.
T'Challa had even gotten a home in the city for you and Bucky to reside in. Though the first two weeks you were there Bucky was under ice and the home was too quiet for your own good he was there with you now most nights as you hung artwork painted by local vendors on the walls.
"I like this one for the living room." You glanced down at a vibrant abstract painting.
"I like whatever you like doll." Bucky kissed the top of your head as he made his way into the kitchen.
"That's not an actual opinion." You narrow your eyes at him pursing your lips slightly.
"I know better than to argue with the woman of the house." Bucky tilted his glass of water towards you cocking a brow before leaning against the granite counter top.
"I'm thinking about getting some plants too. Plants make houses more homey right?" You spoke over your shoulder as you moved the piece to the wall in the living room taking a few steps back to make sure it was straight.
Growing up you never had plants in the home, your mother couldn't remember to water them and when you moved out you weren't home enough to have actual plants or a dog or even furniture from anywhere other than walmart. Then you moved to the compound which was beautiful and grand but it never truly felt like home.
But here with Bucky you had never felt more at home. At peace.

Over the next six months things had fallen into a groove, you both fell into a domesticated bliss to the point where you were buying recipe books and each Friday you both would cook something new. You started enjoying Wakanda's night life and even convinced Bucky to do karaoke with you once which he swore he would never do again. You both took up horseback riding and wandered around Wakanda's beautiful lush lands and hiked every mountain it had to offer, taking selfies together and hanging those pictures of your adventures up on the walls.
You were finally creating a real life. Something with substance other than fighting one battle to the next.
Then one morning you received a phone call from Pepper.
You and Pepper never really had many conversations, you knew your father loved her and you were fine with some kind of stepmom situation but usually she was running Stark Industries while you all were fighting robots.
Groggily you untangled from Bucky's arms and reached for your cell phone. "Hello?"
"I need your help." Pepper whispered.
"Pepper? What time is it?" You sat up rubbing your eyes as Bucky stirred awake.
"About four am your time, listen Tony doesn't know I'm calling but I need to talk to you."
Forcing yourself out of the bed so you wouldn't wake Bucky anymore than you already had you made your way to the espresso maker and started the coffee with Pepper spoke.
"I know things are strained right now between you and your dad but he needs to see you, ever since- you know- he has been nonstop in the lab, he hardly sleeps or eat and his panic attacks are back again same as they were after New York. I don't know what to do."
While you were enjoying your life with Bucky you father was struggling with finding out the truth about his parents and that you, his only family left wasn't by his side, you felt guilt wash over you. Things were simple when you could hide in Wakanda and just act like the problems didn't exist but maybe now it was time to face the truth about everything, face your father.
"I'll be there soon." You ended the call as you took a sip from your mug trying to plan out what you would say to him.
You weren't sorry that you defended Bucky, you firmly believed he was innocent in the situation. It wasn't him who killed your grandparents but no one could hold a grudge like a Stark could. You doubted you and your father could ever find equal ground on the topic but there needed to be some healing.
"Baby why are you up?" Bucky leaned against the doorframe as you handed him your mug and began making another one.
"Pepper called me." You quietly told him.
"Pepper why?" He took a small sip perking up immediately.
"I think it's time I go see my dad, let the healing start. I'll only be gone for a few days."
"I think that's a good idea doll, take your time though. I don't want you rushing back just for me." He set the mug down wrapping his arms around you gently.
"Do you think he will even want to see me?" Doubt started to overcome you.
"You're his daughter of course he will want to see you, he will just be well, Tony about it." Bucky chuckled.

King T'Challa had you on the first flight out of Wakanda that morning. You laid against the leather seat in the plane with a small notebook in your lap trying to write out what you thought would be best to say to your father. Nothing felt right though. You emphasized with him, you couldn't begin to truly understand what he was going through but on the same hand he could grasp the brainwashing Bucky had been through during his time with HYDRA.
You quickly came to realize that this might need to blow up completely before any healing could actually happen.
A Stark family screaming match.
The plane touched down in New York a few hours later and Pepper had sent a car to pick you up. Within the hour you were standing outside the compound with your suitcase in hand and a gut wrenching feeling that this was a bad idea.
