It had been a couple years since the UN and Wakanda had become yours and Bucky's home and it felt like paradise. The culture surrounded you and welcomed you. Shuri had become one of your best friends and Bucky trained with T'Challa almost daily. Things were for the most part. Normal.
You had to admit you missed the action though, you knew Bucky did, there was only so many times you could make chicken and rice before you felt like you'd die.
Bucky never left the country but you began to make regular trips to see your father and give Ross peace of mind that you weren't sorting with the enemy. Your father even took you to help pick out Pepper's engagement ring. You did feel guilty though, for living a life full of freedom while the people who helped Bucky were on the run from Ross and every government worldwide. It had been years since you had been able to contact Wanda or Nat. You weren't even sure the last time Bucky got to speak to Steve. Things between you and Bucky felt so whole but there were parts of your lives that were missing and it ate at the both of you each day.
But everything was about to change.
Most mornings after a workout you went to the market picking out fresh herbs and making sure you tried new teas from the locals while Bucky headed to the palace to work with T'Challa. So you stood there debating freshness of bananas when your phone began to ring baring AC/DC.
"Hi dad." You answered flipping the banana over checking the ripeness.
"Honey," The conversation was never good when it started with honey. "I'm in space."
"What?" Your father had said some crazy things over the years but this probably had to take the cake. "What is wrong with men they become billionaires, realize the only thing left to explore is space?"
"It's not exactly that-" he started.
"HI y/n!" You heard Peter chirp in the background.
"You took PETER TO SPACE? Doesn't he have school? Dad seriously." Peter had become like a little brother to you since repairing your relationship with your father, he constantly sent you GIFs and memes throughout the day, which you secretly enjoyed. You always wanted a sibling.
You set back down the bananas starting for the apartment to get FRIDAY on your home system to track your father's suit and get an update to Pepper, you knew she would be just as displeased as you were with their location.
"This isn't a leisurely trip- I need you to get somewhere safe and call Banner, he can fill you in." He began cutting in and out.
"Banner? Dad I don't-" the static started to become too much as the phone cut out signal and you started sprinting back home. The last you knew Banner had been MIA for the last year or so with zero contact and now suddenly he had all the answers.
Your father knew your abilities as a super solider and your military experience, he wouldn't tell you to get to safety unless it was an emergency or he was scared. Something big was coming. You sent the code to Bucky via text quickly.
311
There was a series of emergency numbers you had both come up with for situations just in case a threat was in the home or if Ross had found out where you were. 311 meant to come home immediately.
You had the screens pulled up that your father had sent you at Christmas as FRIDAY tracked Peter and your fathers vitals. He wasn't kidding they were in space, the question was where in the hell were they going? The rate they were traveling was faster than both their suits could go so they have to be in a space ship of some sort.
