2 years ago, just before my birthday something unexpected happened that night. I remember vividly how the night roared with thunder and lightning, the wind were rough and in that instant I know there's a storm coming. That only mean I couldn't get out from the metropolis, the loud alarm echoed throughout the city, alerting every civilian to go home as soon as possible for safety.
But it never came up to my mind that there was another reason for it, until I saw him.
He was drenched with rain, breathing heavily and exhausted. I just finished my part time job in that old convenience store and I was walking my way home when he ran passed me, he didn't noticed me but the familiar school uniform and his long curly dark hair caught my eyes.
I was too deep in my thoughts that I failed to foresee everything, the noise of cars passing and footsteps of men in suits. They were all running in the same direction and in that moment I knew I needed to do something. The instinct of someone being in danger tasted bitter at the tip of my tongue. The curiosity of happening held the best of me, I silently climbed up on one of the buildings as I sneak in while following them through roofs and verandas.
I was only gonna spy, and see what's going on but one men in suit got a call and what I heard made all my hairs on the back stood up.
"That kid knows too much. If he fight? Kill him."
The voice on the other line were raspy and deep but what he commanded to all his men carries so much danger. "Yes, sir." After that call I hurriedly changed route and maybe also change of plans.
I don't even know why I'm freaking out right now, because as far as I know that man is an enemy, but why is he getting killed if he's one of them?
I cursed under my breath when it gets harder to find him from the heavy rain and it turns foggy the more he decided to go deeper downtown with less open stores and no street lights.
Fortunately, I spotted him between two abandoned buildings on a narrow dark alley. "Not in there dummy." I whispered to myself, as I exchanged my glance to the men who are still following him.
There's not much time left, I needed to do something. I rummage to my bag and picked up my half drank water bottle and put all of my strength on my right hand as I throw it as far as I could to the other side alley, it created a loud noise there and they quickly bite on my trap. I licked my lower lip as I let out a short giggle. Dummies.
I jumped to fence and fences until I reached the ground that startled the tall man. His eyes held fear that he quickly masked with his usual poker face. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion when I got closer to him, but I didn't waste any more time and held his hand as we ran for his escape.
