Summary: meliodas finds out what Valentine's Day is abs also figures out he perhaps hasn't been showing Elizabeth all the love she deserves.

Time line: shortly after Meliodas abs Elizabeth first became lovers 3000 years ago

Meliodas tapped his foot on the ground a couple of times as he noticed all of Elizabeth's pent up energy that she was holding in.
He knew her well enough to know that if he asked she would go on for hours.
But the curiosity and partial concern was gnawing at him.
"Okay! Fine, what is it?"

"What's what?" Elizabeth asked obviously to just how well her love could read her.

"You're holding some kind of excitement in and now you've made me curious" meliodas told her.
It was true she was excited about something but it felt so intimate and she wasn't sure how to explain it to Meliodas.

"Well...Um..today is...kind of special"

"Yeah?" He asked. He wondered if he had forgotten some kind of holiday the goddesses had.

"Yeah...it's a..a human holiday actually" she said and began fiddling with Estarossa's fur which he seemed to enjoy.
At this meliodas had to resist an urge to roll his eyes.
As long as he had known Elizabeth she had been infatuated with the humans and their culture. Which was fine, but there was the instances where it also became s little too much. Like the holiday they had celebrated the harvest of potatoes and beetroots.

However normally Elizabeth would more than gladly talk about those holidays, so he wondered why she was so hesitant when it came to toes holiday in particular.
"My interest is peaked Elizabeth. Continue"

"Em well... it's named Valentine's Day... and it's a day where...uhm well... where couples...show how much they l-love each other" she stammered her way through the explanation and then made sure to not look at meliodas.
Therefor she didn't see his eyes widened and his cheeks got a little dust of pink.

"And how do they... do that?" Meliodas couldn't help but ask.

"Huh?" Elizabeth hummed, surprised that he asked further questions. She was sure he would've just moved on with another subject slowly waiting for this day to pass.
"Well you know.. they get together to go on dates, they give presents like teddy bears and chocolate, and just generally spend time together... they actually tell each other other how they feel" she mumbled the last part, almost in a sad tone if voice that Meliodas flinched at.
He was well aware that he didn't voice his emotions and feelings towards Elizabeth nearly enough.

He close his eyes trying to remember the just time he find her he loved her.

'Oh no' Meliodas thought.
He realized he hadn't actually told her since the day they both confessed and got together.

"I'm sorry Elizabeth" he mumbled an apology. Then an idea sparked inside his mind.
"Well?... you want to go out with this fine evening?" He asked and held his hand out as an invitation to the now blushing goddess.

"W-what?"

"Oh c'mon if you're intent on celebrating human traditions, even if it's just pulling beetroot from the ground, then you should celebrate this too. Besides i think it's tone for me to start showing you how much I care"

Elizabeth stilled for a moment before she smiled a smile that made her eyes shimmer like the ocean.
"Okay" she nodded and put her hand in his invitation one, which he then pulled up to plant a kiss on top of hers.

"Give me an hour okay? I just need to prepare a little" he asked of her as he looked deep into her blue eyes with his green ones.
She giggled excitedly and nodded.

"I can give you an hour"

"How gracious, I'll be back soon then" he smirked and kissed her lightly in the lips before flying off.

It was only then the Elizabeth realized how hard her heart was thinking against her chest.
If she had known a little mumbling abs a little reminder of normal couples was all it took to get meliodas off her ass she would've done that long ago.

Elizabeth had been so excited about whatever meliodas was planning during the short time she had given him.
She couldn't sit still but she content concentrate about anything else either, so she had decided to speak all her truths to her friend and pet, Estarossa who was laying in her lap not caring about her words, only caring about how she stroked his fur.

Talking to him she have even noticed that one hour had passed so when a couple of hands suddenly covered her eyes she jumped and gasped, which also caused Estarossa to let out one bark, but then she giggled as she realized who it was when a familiar voice said "guess who"

"Well it certainly sounds like my midget demon boyfriend" she laughed and then he uncovered her eyes.

"Could've left the "midget" part out but sure" he said in a bit of a whining manner.
He still stood behind her and so she couldn't see the smile in his face.

"Sorry" she said.

He let our a laugh and kissed her cheek.
"Now" she started and made his way in front of her.
When she saw everything he was carrying she gasped.
She had expected him to a single candle and maybe a cheap chocolate bar, but no he held what looked like very expensive chocolates. A teddy bear with a red ribbon and lastly red roses.

"I think this whole holiday is for the scams!" He says abs then held the flowers out for her.
"Roses should not be this expensive and yet i bought them for you because for some reason I couldn't help it"

Elizabeth carefully took the roses from him.
She was in absolute shock.

"Is something wrong?" Meliodas asked converged when he saw her frozen in place. "I'd it not bright flowers? Because I-"

"Meliodas it's...it's perfect I just didn't expect this" she finally snapped out of it and smiled at him.
She could feel a pressure behind her eyes that told her that tears were gathering there.

"Well, you've put up with me for a long time now. I think you deserve it" he said quietly abs set the rest of the things carefully on the ground before walking over to cup her cheek.
"I'm sorry for being such a horrible boyfriend sometimes"

"Meliodas!" She scolded. "You're not a horrible boyfriend! I'm sorry if I've made it feel that way... but listen even though i do want some extra romance some days doesn't mean I don't absolutely love how we normally are together"

Meliodas stood in awe at the woman before him.
Then he let every wall he ever had finally crumble.
He spoke without thinking.
"Gosh I love You Elizabeth" he said in almost a whisper, but Elizabeth clearly heard and she let out a hiccup indicating that she found no longer hold her tears back.

She out the flowers down by her side and was then wrapped in Meliodas's arms in a loving embrace.

"I love you too meliodas" she said and ever though she told him more often he found out that it somehow felt more important because it a days back at him.
They loved each other.
It wasn't one sided.
And now, thanks to this simple human holiday meliodas promised himself to never forget it.
