Summary: on the first rainy day after Elizabeth arrived at the boar hat, meliodas goes outside to think

MELIODAS POV

There had been no costumers today, and I could understand why.
The dark rain clouds made the scenery look sad and gloomy and the wind only made the raindrops on ones skin feel all the more colder.
But I find it somewhat refreshing as i stand in said weather, my head held high as he ensured that my face got soaked by the rain.

It was something I'd always done...letting my emotions go in the stormy weather.

I like standing in the rain, because then nobody can see my tears.

The reason I need to let everything out now was because Elizabeth had arrived at my bar just one week ago.

Of course it was always destined that we would meet again, that was insured by our curse that we share.
But while that was an overwhelming happiness at seeing her again, it always hurt, because I had to act like she wasn't the most important person in his entire existence, which of course she was.

Perhaps it's also because of the past I share with this Elizabeth, but it hurt particularly this time, and a hunch tells me it's because of how similar she is to the first time I got to know her.

A princess.
A Druid, although back then she was a goddess, but it's close enough, and she comes to me, who she has been told is her enemy, and asks me for help.
It truly was the same.

And throughout this week where I had also gotten to know her better. What things she liked, her virwponyrs of different matters, it became more and more bizarre how similar they were.
Of course as she was her reincarnation she should be, but every other Elizabeth had had some other characteristics.

Elizabeth of the savages was independent and didn't actually need me.

Elizabeth of noble descent was snobby at first.

Ell, the thief was paranoid and hesitant to open up to me.

Liz was more stubborn than any other Elizabeth I had ever encountered.

But with this Elizabeth....Elizabeth Liones I can't find any difference in comparing her to my goddess, and it makes my heart ache in a all too familiar way.
But it also makes me so much more determined to break the curse this time around, but i has also been the determined like this other times, so part of me is sure that this time would be no different and that I will inevitable let her down again.

"Not again...." I mumble to himself as my tears finally begin to flow.
I bow down upon myself and clench where one of my seven hearts was, loosing her never got easier, neither did the mere thought of failing her...

I froze up when I heard the creaky door of the boar hat open up and I turned to see Elizabeth in the doorway.

"Sir Meliodas are you alright?" Her brows furrowed in what I knew was a concerted look.
My thoughts still lingered on the thought of taking her again so I don't even think to reply which of course made her even more concerned.

She put a hand put to check just how much it rained, then she went back inside and almost immediately reemerged with a umbrella in hand.
Folding it out she quickly made it over to me.

"What's wr- ah..." she let out a stunned breathe of air and I tilted my head in confusion.
"Sir Meliodas...were you crying out here?"

I had almost forgotten I had started crying, luckily though I could feel that my tears had long since stopped, so I could use my excuse.
I quickly plastered on a grin and put my hands behind my head.

"I wasn't crying, I'm just soaked all over" I half lied. "Thanks for the concern though, Elizabeth"

She let out a relieved sigh.
"I see, I was worried...but...why are you out here getting soaked in the first place?"

"Hm? Oh i just like the rain, it helps clear my mind" I told her the truth this time.

"I see" she seemed pretty satisfied with that answer and glanced back at the boar hat.
"But please do take an umbrella with you next time" she laughed and o agreed.

We slowly made our way inside, but as I stood in the doorway I mumbled.
"I'll save you Elizabeth..." when i looked up she was blushing but at the same time she looked confused.
"...and liones of course" I went back to my cheery self and didn't look to see her reaction this time.
I only heard a reply.
A happy "thank you"
