Prompt: sunset

Summary: zeldris and Gelda is watching the sunset, and as she explains what she loves about it zeldris blows things out of proportions and gives a cheesy speech.

It had been a day like so many others for the young prince.
He had sparred with his elder brother, Meliodas, fulfilled his job as executioner by cutting the head off of a traitor, and then finally, he'd been free to go wherever he'd like, and of course, the place he liked to go was by Geldas side, where he was right now.

Zeldris sighed as he looked at the horizon painted in orange, yellow and pink by the sunset before him.
He had never been able to appreciate pure beauty and piece it brought this land that was so utterly destroyed by war.
But nowadays he could enjoy it fully.
All thanks to her.

His green eyes shone as he turned his head to his lovely Gelda.
It was poetic, truly.
Gelda loved the sunrise and the sunset, despite being hurt by even the tiniest ray of it, so she had to stand in the shadows, but that was okay, she found still feel, and see the beauty of it.

"Gelda" Zeldris spoke ready to ask a question he'd often forgotten every time they were swept up by the magic of these moments.
He loved this time with her, but for the first couple of times that's done it he had been terrible worried when she her the rats of the sun too close yo her pale vampire skin.
Why did she do this?
"Why is it you like the sunset so much?"

She turned to him, and her small smile wife he'd ever slightly as her eyes glimmered.
"I always have, even when I was just s as chins, I'd find ways to sit in the shadows and watch the colors...they were beautiful, they reminded me of the fires i could create" Gelda looked down as her hand.
Geldas magical power is "combustion" a fire that is so rapid, hot and powerful that it can instantly cremate her victims, and due to the overwhelming heat and power the flames were vibrant red and yellow colors.

Zeldris smiled at the woman he loved, then looked back at the sunset, then back at her once more as he remembered how she'd glow in the light of her fire, unlike she found now.
"Your fire is more beautiful" he told her honestly.

Gelda let out a laugh, letting it be known that she simply thought he was trying to flatter her, which, in truth wasn't a rare thing he'd do.
But this time it truly wasn't simple flattery

"N-no really!" He suddenly stammered, embarrassed by how much he needed to prince this point to her.
Could she not see how beautiful she truly was?
How in awe he was every time she as much as looked his way?
"I mean! You're beautiful now as it is but-" he paused realizing his choice of words, he blushed but continued. "But... in the darkness when it's only you...when the colors of the flames flow out into the darkness only illuminating you then...it's like you're the sunset yourself"

Gelda stared at him for a few moments, a unreadable look on her face, then she smiled, and for a moment Zeldris truth felt like her said something right, but that feeling disappeared when she burst into laughter.
"That was too cheesy, even for it Zel" she stifled her laugh.

"I didn't mean to make it a big deal" she told him and he blushed from Utter embarrassment, but then just before he was about to apologize she continued.
"But thank you" She looked into the distance, to see the sun peeking down behind horizon, making it night.
Geldas domain, so being able to move freely she stepped out of the shadows and walked to Zeldris who was still blushing, regretting everyone of his life decisions, both then she brought him into an embrace.

Gelda never needed many words from him, his mere presence was enough, but now, even though it had been the most cheesy lines she had ever heard, it warmed her heart knowing that he truly cared.
