summery: after an incident when Tristan was seven he's been left terrified of heights, but that doesn't mean Meliodas won't teach him flying lessons.

Time line: let's say when Tristan is 12

THIRD PERSON POV-

"I REFUSE" a high pitched voice sounded in the gardens of Liones's castle.
The voice belong to Tristan Liones, who was handing onto...a bench?

"Trist-" Meliodas who was pulling at his sons legs was about to try and reason with his boy, but he was quickly interrupted by even more of Tristan's protests.

What's going on you may ask?

What's going on is that Tristan have become able to sprout dark demonic wings from his back, something meliodas in particularly was very happy about. Which was why he was not pulling at his sons legs.
He wanted to teach tristsn how to fly... there was just one tiny thing meliodas seemed to hate forgotten about his beloved son....

Tristan is terrified of heights.

"I CAN'T EVEN GO 4 STEPS UP A LADDER! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I CAN SOAR ABOVE THE CLOUDS!!?"

"Nobody said anything about flying that high just yet-"

"YET?! NO! NEVER!" Tristsn seemed to freak out even more and his grip on the bench got tighter.
In a few ways Meliodas felt bad for trying to make his son do something he was terrified of.
By when he thought back to the incident that caused Tristan to be so scared of heights he just knew that it would be for the better if something like that were to ever happen again.
"Tristan! Think of it this way, you don't have to fly around like me and your mom does, just please learn it fOR EMERGENCIES" Meliodas's voice grew a bit louder at the end as Tristan had kicked his legs wildly and escaped his fathers hold.
Luckily he hadn't run off, instead he sat down in the bench with his back to his father, still holding on tightly.

In a few ways Meliodas felt bad for trying to make his son do something he was terrified of.
By when he thought back to the incident that caused Tristan to be so scared of heights he just knew that it would be for the better if something like that were to ever happen again.

Meliodas let the silence invade them.
He used that little time to at least try and think of a way to make his son agree to practicing his flight.
"You... you can get one if your favorite juices afterwards?" Meliodas tried.
The juice named Capri sun was his sons favorite, abc he and Elizabeth would often use it as a reward system.
But after Tristan didn't move or say anything meliodas tried to up the stakes.
"How about two then?.."

"You're stupid dad..."

In most cases Meliodas would've told his son off.
But he knew Tristan was very emotional, he could hear it in his voice.
Tristan sounded like he was close to sobbing, and it nearly broke Meliodas's heart.
"You know..." Meliodas started and sat down next to his son on the bench. "I was scared of flying at first too"

"Tch!" Tristan clicked his teeth. "You're just saying that to make me feel better"

"Yes..but that doesn't mean it's not true"

Finally meliodas seed to get his sons full attention, cause Tristan looked over his shoulder, his glassy eyes slightly wide at the thought of his father being scared of something he did so....so freely..

"I was just a kid like you, but unlike you I didn't gage a cool, kind, heroic-" meliodas started but was then cut off by Tristan.

"Okay okay you've made your point!"

Meliodas snickered and then continued.
"Right! So, what I'm trying to say is that my father wasn't great. An example would defiantly be when he fight me how to fly. You see her fight care if I fell to the ground and died, after all that would just mess that I had been weak and useless. Keeping this in mind I was terrified that I would fail, because I knew there'd be nobody to catch me... that's why you don't need to be scared Tristan, because i promise i will catch you if you fall"

Tristan let those words run back and fourth in his mind for a few moments. He was no less terrified, but he was slightly more rational now.
Of course his father would catch him...
"I-..I'm still scared.."

"I know piglet, but if you try, maybe it won't be as bad as you think. And woosh! You won't be scared anymore? Wouldn't that be nice? To not be scared of heights anymore?"

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

"S-STILL S-S-..SCARED, STILL SCARED! MORE SCARED!! DAAAAAADDDD!!" Tristan freaked out as he was flying it the height of the castles roof, which was in fact ...quite high, since they were counting the roof of the towers...

Tristan was shaking, fearing that he would fall, so Meliodas went and held his hand.
"Tristan! You're doing so great! I'm so proud of you!" Meliodas Said excitedly and put a finger under Tristan's chin to lift it up so he was looking him in the eyes and not down at the ground below.

"R-r-r-rea-really??" Tristan stammered, completely petrified, but he was still happy that he had pleased his father.

"Of course! And do you want to know something super cool?" Meliodas asked, hoping he could get his sons mind off of how High up they were.

"MmHmm" Tristan nodded and hummed in agreement.

"You, my piglet, is more brave than I was when I began to fly"

"H-huh?"

"YuP! I still reminded the cliff my dad threw me out over when I learned, and that cliff wasn't at high as we are now"

Tristan felt on top of the world, but not in the sense that he was flying, no, he had actually forgotten about that for a few moments.
"A-and does that mean...does that mean...I'm good?..a-at flying that is?"

"You seem to be a natural talent, just keep it up and-"

"WHOA, NO, i might like the praise but I'm NEVER coming up here again!"
