"I'm sorry what-t?" I almost dropped my waterI had to sit down, Armin joined me sitting opposite. "Mikasa had bruises on her neck I was worried but then I realised that it was Eren that put them there" he locked eyes with me "he told me she...liked it""Are you okay (YN)?" He gave a concerned look"I'm fine why wouldn't I be" I laughed it off"(YN)...your in love with him" His words felt like a ton of bricks crashing down me. "How- do you know that?""Your face gives it away, your an open book (YN)" He spoke.I shouldn't feel this way since I was the one who rejected him but that didn't stop me from crying that night..........

I ran into Aksel while running errands, we had met just yesterday at my father's grave he was visiting his loved one too. Although the circumstances in how we met weren't conventional he was easy to talk to and seemed like good company. "Would you like to join me for lunch (YN)?" We walked together."That would be nice" I smiled back, it was breath of fresh air to talk to someone new. We walked into the old bar. It was filled with laughter and the smell of liquor, it wasn't late enough to drink but that never stopped anyone. Aksel pulled out my chair "thanks" "Tell me (YN), what are you about?" he ordered us two drinks. "Hmmm?" I leaned on the table "A simple woman with no parents and group of friends that I call my family" I gave a half-smile "what about you?"

"My parents were killed and my friends died one by one" his hand that laid on the table tightened "I'm so sorry Aksel" instinctively I covered his hand with mine "no need to apologise, that Titan will pay" his tone became flat and his eyes turned a darker shade of blue for split second. I slowly recalled my hand

"hopefully eaten by another obviously" his cheerful voice coming back "if only I was able to join the Scouts have you ever considered?" He asked me. I was still trying to figure out what that expression was but I shook it off. "Yes but unfortunately my father was ill and I had to take care of him. My friends however Armin, Mikasa and..." I glanced around at the people populating the bar "Eren" Aksel finished my words "y-yes" "I've heard those names before the Yeager isn't too popular" I looked at the scratched surface of the bar table, picturing Eren's face. His actions weren't the best but he was still good deep down.

I hoped.

Our drinks arrived "ohh (YN)! When are you and that red-haired girl going to swing by? It's on the house! The booze anyway...your friend is limited to three plates of food" her eyes squinted. She was probably traumatized by how much food Sasha could eat. I laughed to myself remembering the last time we were here.

"I'll be sure to bring her by" it's easier to say this than the truth, well for me at least. I took a sip of the cold ale, "you're a regular?" He asked "Yeah my dad always brought me here even when I was a kid" my eyes downcast"right I think we need a drinking contest" he gulped down the beer. "Thinking about past loved ones brings pain and...regrets so let's enjoy our time now, that's what they would want right?" He held his glass up, a wide grin on his face "Challenge accepted" there was no way I was going to lose.

We both knew we were just drinking our sorrows away...

The drinks kept coming and soon there were two separate sides of the bar; one betting on me and the other for Aksel. I let out a satisfying "ahh" as I slammed the empty cup down. The guys cheered, Aksel's neatly slicked back hair was ruffled I could see he was at his limit "one more! One more!" They chanted. "Boys I think he's done" I scoffed "Aksel you can't go down like this-" the men got quiet. The black-haired man stood up lowering his glass in defeat "you win" Half the room cheered and the other half just lost a lot of money.

The Amber sky was now littered with stars. we held each other up as we walked home laughing at how drunk we were."That was fun" we stood outside my door, my eyes looking up to him. His cheeks were flushed and the loose strands of black hair framed his face. It was at this moment I noticed he was handsome. "I would like to see you again (YN)" he stared at me with those striking blue eyes, I felt as though he was getting closer. "(YN)-" "Aksel, thanks for tonight I really needed it" I stopped him."Anytime" his lips formed a smile
