Three || Accomplishments

𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝟎𝟕𝟏𝟑𝟐𝟏

We've been training for about a year now. Me, Armin, Mikasa, and Eren are about to step into maneuver gear to see if we qualify to continue further.

My palms sweat as I get strapped in. I look to my left to see the others also getting strapped in. All eyes are on us, and we will definitely get made fun of if we mess up.

I take deep breaths, trying to clear my head. If I let stress get in the way, I would definitely fail. The heat is buckled around my waist and legs. I winced at first, not expecting it to be fitted around me as tight as it was. I was hooked onto the poles on either side of me, slowly being raised into the air. I wobbled in the air at first, leaning to one side and then to the other. After a couple of seconds, I found balance in my body and continue to stay in the air.

The stress I was feeling made me expect to lose my balance and to fall on either side. I braced myself, expecting this to happen, but it didn't.

I opened my eyes that were clenched shut. I felt my hands sweating, noticing that my hands were bawled into fists from my anxiety. I look to my left to see Mikasa and Armin doing as well as me. On the other hand, Eren looked as though he was going to fall at any moment.

Eren lost his balance and his forehead hit the ground. I cringe at the sight and turn my head the other way. I was then lowered back down to the ground, and me, Mikasa, and Armin walk over to the knocked out Eren.

We're sitting at our regular table for dinner. Erens head was bandaged. Jean insults the boy, making my head ache. These two never settled down, their always coming at each other.

Mikasa also looked annoyed. "Ereh," She starts, "You'll get it soon. I know you will." The boy nods and continues to eat.

"Heyyy, y/n!" Sasha says sliding over to me. "Going to eat that potato there?" I occasionally give her my food if I lose my appetite. She always accepts it with gratitude.

"Take it!" I say handing her the potato. I didn't feel like eating it tonight. She'd enjoy it more than I would anyway.

"Yummy! Thank you!" She turns back around to her friend, Connie, and scarfs down the food.

Yesterday, Eren failed at sitting in the maneuver gear without falling. We make our way back outside for Eren to try again. If he can't do this, he will be sent out.

"Come on, Eren, you've got this! You just have to balance yourself properly!" I say trying to encourage him.

"I'm seriously trying, but thanks." He said. He stands over the gear, getting strapped in. They slowly pull him into the air. He's wobbly, but he's still up there! He starts to lean over and the falls back again.

I sigh at his failure, and turn my back to walk away. "Wait a minute.." The instructor starts, taking a closer look at his gear. "This here gear is broken!" He states, shocking everybody. "Get this boy some gear!" He yells out.

Again, Eren is strapped into some maneuver gear. He's slowly raised back into the air. He struggles a little, but he's able to perfectly gain his balance after a couple of seconds. I sigh again, this time out of relief.

We came in here together, and I'm glad we're able to make it longer the same way. He's brought back down to the ground and makes his way over to us.

"You did amazing, Eren!" I congratulate him. He gives me a thumbs up, and we make our way back to the headquarters to get some rest.

Today, we will be using our maneuver gear to make our way through a forest. We will be 'killing' fake titans at the same time. This will allow the instructor to grade us on how well we are doing.

We line up outside the forest, ready to jump in and attack the fake titans. We wait for the signal..

"Go!"

I run as fast as I can and jump. I release some gas to make myself go faster and hook my 3DM gear onto a branch. I swing in the air and cut every fake titan I run into.

This training is helpful, however I don't feel like it is very effective. When we fight real titans, they will be moving around and swinging at us.

Everyone finished in the forest and we made our way back to the headquarters. "Y/n, you're really good!" Eren exclaimed as Armin and Mikasa follow behind him.

"Oh, thanks!" I smile. The four of us decided to go on a walk because we haven't had much time to spend with each other.

We walk up to a hill and watch as the sun sets.

"What do you guys think is on the other side of the wall?" Eren asks. "I mean, besides what you already know from the book."

"Im not completely sure." Armin starts. "But Im really interested in just seeing the ocean. If there's more to the outside world, then I'd be glad to figure that out as well."

"I don't think there's much, just titans." Mikasa says.

"What about you, Y/n?" Eren asks. The others look at me waiting for an answer.

"I think it could be similar to what it's like here. Of course there's titans, but somewhere out there I think there's cities just like ours. As well as people just like us." The others nod and we watch as the sun continues to set and the stars start to make themselves present in the night sky.
