Twenty-Seven||"I'm sorry"

I shut the door behind me and then gasp. "Captain?" I whisper.

"Cadet?"

"What are you doing in my room?"

"Knitting a blanket." He says sarcastically. "What does it look like I'm doing?"

"How am I supposed to know?"

"I'm hiding from Hange."

"Why?" I ask as if I didn't already know.

"Because Hange is trying to take away my ability to walk."

"How so?"

"By keeping me off my foot."

"Because it's broken from the expedition?" I ask.

"Tch. It's fine."

"When did you become a doctor, Levi?"

"I'm not a doctor. I just know my body well."

"Well enough to know your ankle's broken?" He scoffs at me.

"Just shut up so they don't find me."

"Okay, captain. I hope you plan on going back to your room to rest soon."

"No way. Hange will expect me to be there." I sigh.

"Okay, well captain, I'm taking a shower. Don't pull anything."

"Psh. You're not worth it."

"Good." I grab some clothes and head into my bathroom. I turn on the water allowing it to warm up. I step in the shower.
(Yeah I don't need to write about u cleaning in a shower:/)

I get out of the shower and pull my pajamas on my body. I walk back into my room. "You're going to have to leave at some point."

"Yeah, I know that. I have so much work but I don't want to go get it." An idea presents itself in his mind as his face lights up. "Cadet, fetch me my work."

"You're kidding." I say.

"That's an order."

"Just so your foot doesn't get wrapped up?"

"Yeah. And so I don't have to see Hange." I roll my eyes. "Cadet, do what you're told."

"Fine." I march out of my room and down to his office.

I bump into the person Levi didn't want to see. "Y/n, any luck finding Levi?" Hange asks. I thought about telling them that he was in my room. I open my mouth but then shut it just as fast. I remembered earlier today when his eyes were puffy. He has been through so much recently. If he doesn't want to see Hange, then I won't make him.

"Nope." I say, defending the captain.

"Wait why are you down here?"

"I left something in his office when I brought him lunch."

"Okay." Hange turns around and walks into their room. I grab the papers off of the corporals desk as well as a pen. I scurry out of the room and make my way back to mine.

I have to knock on my own door since my hands are full. After a minute of waiting I shout to the man on the other side.

"It's me." He quickly opens the door and pushes me inside.

"Stay quiet!" He hissed at me.

"Why are you mad? I had to knock on my door and walk all the way down the hall to get your paperwork." I say, crossing my arms. "And I'm tired!"

"Y/n, it's been an exhausting day for all of us." I lay down on my bed and look up at the ceiling. The corporal crosses his legs and sits on the floor to do paper work.

I only had a bed and a wardrobe in my room. There wasn't any need for anything else. I would only come up here to sleep and since I don't have paperwork, I don't need a desk.

"Captain," I whisper.

"I've told you once before, just call me Levi." He says back in a bored tone.

"Levi.. I'm sorry about your squad." He pauses on his work but then a second later continues back to what he was writing. "Why didn't I die along with them?" I ask, tears welling up in my eyes. I had seen too much. I couldn't do anything, all I could do was watch them go.

"Cadet, don't speak like that." Levi says quietly. "Eren ended up safe in the end, so they completed their mission." I stare at the ceiling. I can feel the corporal's eyes on me but I don't want to face him.

"Y/n, they did all that they could. That's all that truly matters. They were amazing people, however, people don't last forever." He sighs. "I know it was a terrible way for them to go, but that's what happened." I pretend like I'm scratching my face to I can wipe away a tear. I turn to face away from the corporal.

I close my eyes and try to forget about the terrible events that I witnessed. I was interrupted with a sniffle behind me. "Levi?" I turn around to find his hands covering his face. I climb out of the bed and sit down on the floor next to him.

Before I could think about what I was doing, my arm rested on his shoulder. He had no reaction to me touching him and continued to cry. I pull him into a hug and allow him to cry in my shoulder.

I place my hand on the back of his head and play with his hair. He tenses up when I did this but settles down after a minute. "I'm sorry." I whisper.
