Eighteen || Keep Me Safe

I walk down the hallway following behind the corporal. We make it to his office. He opens the door and allows me to walk into his office. He closes the door behind him and sits down at his desk.

"So, corporal, what did you need from me?" I ask.

"Please just call me Levi. It's quicker."

"Okay. Levi, what did you need me in here for?"

"Y/n, you're very strong. You put up a fight against me. Not many people are able to do that. I want to know why you joined the survey corps."

"Really?" He looks up at me. "Okay, well I joined because I want to get rid of the titans. There's people who I loved that the titans took away from me. That's all there is to it."

"That's a good enough reason." He says. A loud knock on the door interrupts us. "Name and business."

"Eren Jeager and I need help!"

"Tch. Stupid brat just come in." Eren runs into the room.

"Hey, Y/n."

"Hi, Eren."

"Tch. Was your emergency to come see your girlfriend?"

"Levi, we're not dating." I say.

"Woah, Y/n! Did you just call him Levi?" I cover my mouth and look over at Eren.

"Sorry it just slipped out." Levi drops his head into his hands.

"Who let children in my squad" He mutters.

"But to answer your question, corporal, I'm in here because I'm hiding from Hange. Their trying to conduct more expedients on me!"

"Shitty glasses really needs to stop messing with my squad."

"Captain, why am I in here?" I ask again.

"Right. Your in here because I need to inform you that you will be traveling with my squad in our next expedition."

"Isn't that dangerous?" Eren asks.

"Yes but she is a skilled soldier." Levi says. "She joined the survey corps to risk her life. The best thing any of you could hope for is to die while protecting humanity."

"He's right, Eren. I joined the survey corps because I want to put my life on the line to help humanity. I know the risks."

Eren looks at me with sad eyes. "Corporal, can you promise me something?" He asks.

"What, brat?"

"You are in charge. I want you to do anything you can to keep Y/n safe."

"Eren!" I yell. "Don't make me repeat myself."

"But I don't want you to die protecting me!" He says.

"Eren, I'm going to try to protect everyone on my team. That will include Y/n." The corporal says. "But because I'm looking over everyone, I can't promise that I can keep her from dying."

Eren clenches his hands and bites his tongue, trying not to go off on the corporal.

"Eren stop. That's enough." I put my hands out , telling him to quit. He crosses his arms and looks over to the side.

"Levi!!!" A chirpy voice calls. "Have you seen- Oh there he is. Come along with me, Eren." Hange says. Eren looks at the woman, and then back at me and Levi.

"Oh my god." He whispers under his breath. He follows the woman out of the room, leaving me and Levi alone.

"Y/n, I can tell that Eren really likes you. If you die during this expedition, he's going to be very upset." The corporal says.

"I know that. I'm his friend so I don't want to detach myself from him." I say.

"He can't hold on to you forever. He can't face that fact because your probably his first girlfriend."

"Levi, how many times do I need to repeat myself? He's just my friend. I made that very clear to him. It's his own fault if he continues to love me."

Levi nods. "I could care less about your little relationship anyway. I told you what you need to know and you are now dismissed."
