Ten || Graduation

𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝟎𝟕𝟏𝟕𝟐𝟏

I miss Eren.

Me, Mikasa and Armin are training together, but we always feel like we're missing something. When we eat, I look over ready to hear Jean arguing with someone, but there's nothing. Of course, Jean still try's to stay in contact with us. He really likes Mikasa. I think everyone knows that by now.

I know Mikasa doesn't like Jean like that, it's only one-sided. However, I think Jean would treat her well. He compliments her all the time. She doesn't like the attention she gets from him.

After Eren joined the survey corps, Mikasa has started talking to me more. It's obvious she really loves Eren. I don't blame her. She owes him her life. He saved her when she was younger.

Of course, Armin is intelligent. He's able to come up with plans that actually work. For example, the plan where people were lowered to fight the titans.

He's one of the best friends I've ever had. He's loyal and sweet, even if he's shy.

In a couple days, we will be deciding where we will be going to next: the Survey Corps or the Garrison. Me, Mikasa and Armin plan on joining the Survey Corps to reunite with Eren.

Our instructor is calling our names to reveal the top trainees on the training corps.

"Number 10 is Krista Lenz." He yells.

"Number 9 is Sasha Blouse."

"Number 8 is Connie Springer."

"Number 7 is F/n L/n."

"Number 6 is Jean Kirstein."

"Ha! I got placed high than you AND Sasha!" Jean says to Connie.

"Number 5 is Eren Jeager, who is already a part of the Survey Corps." The instructor continues. Jean looks down as Connie makes fun of him for ranking lower than Eren.

"Number 4 is Annie Leonhart."

"Number 3 is Bertolt Goover."

"Number 2 is Reiner Braun."

"And number one," The instructor pauses, trying to build suspense,"Is Mikasa Ackerman." I make my way over to the dark haired girl.

"Congratulations on getting first place, Mikasa." I say to her.

"Thanks, Y/n." I look over at Armin, who seems a bit disappointed at not making it in the top ten.

"Yeah, good job, Mikasa." He says keeping his gaze down at his feet. "And good job for getting in the top ten, (Y/n)." We notice his disappointment and bring him into a group hug. He giggles and we make our way back to our way to the cafeteria to get our dinner.

Me and Mikasa and Armin eat our dinner in the cafeteria. I'm so nervous about the graduation that it feels like my stomach wants to get rid of everything I'm putting in it. "Attention, cadets!" A man calls out to us. "It is now time for you all to gather in the auditorium for graduation."

I get up from my seat and walk alongside Mikasa and Armin. "Let's stick together." Armin says. I look down to see his hands trembling. He's just as nervous as I am, maybe even more so. Mikasa, on the other hand, is keeping herself together.

We stand outside, looking at a stage in front of us. Hundreds of people were around us, wanting to join the Survey Corps.  Erwin Smith makes his way onto the stage.

"I'm at Erwin Smith, the commander of the Survey Corps." He says, introducing himself. "Today is the day that all of you chose a military branch, and I am here to encourage that you join the Survey Corps."

"During the Titan attack, you are able to realize how terrifying the titans can be and how weak you are compared to them. However, this battle brought all of humanity closer to our victory against the titans. Because of Eren Jeager risking his life, he has proved to us his strength. There is no doubt in my mind that he is a friend to humanity."

"With this boys help, we did not only stop the titans from advancing, but we found a way to tell the Titan's true nature. There is a basement in the boys home that will answer our questions about the titans. If we can reach the basement, it is possible we will learn how to destroy the titans."

The crowd of people start to whisper to one another about this turn in events for humanity. "We plan on heading to this basement. However before doing this, we will need to retake Wall Maria." The commander turns to a shorter woman with strawberry blonde hair as they show me and the other soldiers a map.

"Because the Trost Gate is sealed, we will have to take a different route to his basement. In the last four years, more than sixty percent of the Survey Corps have died. Any of you who join will come with us in our expedition outside of the walls in one month. We believe that thirty percent will not make it back in these walls. In four years, most would be dead." The crowd starts to panic at the numbers their hearing.

"However those who survive will become more superior solider with higher survival rates. Now that you know these facts, I want those of you who are willing to risk your lives to stay put. Are you willing to offer your hearts for humanity? That is it. Any of you who wish to join another branch may leave."

Soldiers swarm out of the auditorium. Am I making the right choice? I look over and see Armin and Mikasa staying in their position. That's right, I think to myself, I've already decided to become a member of the Survey Corps. I stay standing with Eren and Mikasa as the rest of the people who leave are out of view.

I look around to see only about 20 people left standing.

"Welcome to the Survey Corps!" Erwin says, turning back and stepping off of the stage.

Lil Note: (spoilers) I do know that Marco was supposed to be number 7 but I decided that Y/n should be in the top ten. I decided for Y/n to take the place of Marco because he ends up dying before he could join the Survey Corps.
