Five || Disaster

𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝟎𝟕𝟏𝟑𝟐𝟏

I wake up energized and ready for our mission today. I put on my shirt and pants and buckle on my gear. I kneel down to zip up my boots and I walk out of my door down to the cafeteria.

"Good morning!" I call out to my table.

"Hello, y/n." Says Armin.

"Good morning." Mikasa and Eren say in sync. We gobble down our food (and I give Sasha my potato like usual) and we make our way outside to the walls. We are supposed to guard the walls for the day.

"Guys!!! Guess what happened!" Sasha says skipping down the wall towards us. She pulls out meat from underneath her jacket. We rarely get to eat meat. "Don't worry, I'll share it with you guys." We giggle as she places the meat in a box nearby.

"Aren't you going to get in trouble?" Armin asks, sounding a bit nervous.

"Not if you guys don't snitch." Sasha says, turning around and placing a finger over her mouth.

Just as she closed the lid, a smoke appears behind Eren. We jump down the wall to avoid being attacked by the colossal titan. Someone tumbles down the wall, but Connie uses his gear to hold him by his foot to keep him from falling.

Me and Eren jump back on the wall to fight off the titan. "Y/n, leave this to me."

"No way, Eren." He sighed in annoyance and lunged at the titan, hooking his 3DM gear on the titans shoulder. I ran towards the titan, but was stopped with burning smoke being sent in my direction. I covered my face from the head and stepped back, while Eren still tried to attack the titan.

Eren managed to make his way behind it, but just as he lifted his swords, the titan vanished. "Eren, there's a whole in the wall!" Armin calls. Titans flood into the city. It's our job to protect this city.

"Go after the titans!" I shout. I leap off of the wall and hook my 3DM gear onto buildings. I soar through the city, slicing into the nape of a titan. A giant hand comes flying in my direction, but I dodge it causing the titan to smash his hand on a roof.

Titans swarm around us, but we continue to cut them down. Armin, Eren and a couple others move forward while we stay back, fighting the titans that are coming into the city.

The titans continue to flood in. Many people have been slammed against buildings and eaten by the titans, but me and Mikasa were still here. We fall back, unable to cut down every single titan that got in.

Me and Mikasa find Armin slumped on a roof, his head facing downwards. "Armin!" I shout coming closer to the blond boy. "Where's Eren?" Armin bawls his hands into fists and tears hit the roof he's sitting on.

"I'm so sorry." He whispers.

"What?" I whimper, my hands shaking as I place them on his shoulder. "Armin..."

"I'm sorry. I couldn't save him."

I felt like my world has just been crushed. Eren, one of the only family members I have left, has also fallen victim to the titans. A feeling of rage boiling in my chest, similar to that after my mother's death, blinds me with anger.

I stand up, stepping towards the edge of the roof, ready to attack whichever titan was closest.

"Stop, (y/n)" Mikasa calls, stopping me in my tracks. I feel her hand resting on my shoulder. "Don't go out there right now. We need to figure everything out. Don end up like Eren."

I look over at Mikasa, who has tears forming in her eyes. She turned around and stands in front of all the other soldiers, over looking the city.

Everyone moaned and whined, believing that this was the end of them. "Everyone, we need to refill our gas canisters." Mikasa starts. People lift their head to the woman to listen to what she has to say.

"But there's too many-" Marco starts.

"We will do this!" Mikasa says interrupting the freckled boy. "I am stronger than all of you! I killed titans back there and I will continue to, even alone. You are all pathetic cowards. Sit here and die if you want."

"Are you telling me you want to fight the titans alone?" A soldier asks. The group continues to go into panic.

"I need to fight or else I will not win." Mikasa continues. She then launches herself into the air to kill the titans as well as replenish the gas. Everyone stands shocked. People swarm off of the roof, wanting to fight and win as well.

I follow after Mikasa. I stay close to her because I know she doesn't have much gas left. We slice through the napes of titans. I try my best to keep up with her. She was using more gas than necessary, so I did too. Her gas gives out and she tumbles down onto a roof and then to the ground.

"Mikasa!" I exclaim as I look down at her figure. I stop my gear and stand on a building, looking around to find anything that might cause harm to the woman who ran out of gas. Out of the corner of my eye, I found a titan making its way over to Mikasa.
