Nineteen || The Expedition

Time Skip to the Morning of The Expedition

I open my eyes and look around at the room I'm sleeping in. My first expedition. I think to myself. It's today.

I jump in the shower, trying to wake myself up. This is the one day that I should not be tired. I button up my shirt and pull up my pants. I fasten the straps on my body and pull on my jacket. I place my cape around my shoulders and make my way out of my room.

I walk down to the cafeteria to eat my breakfast and get the day started. "Hey, Y/n." Mikasa calls. I sit down at the table she was at.

"Where's Eren and Armin?" I ask her.

"They're still getting ready. They'll be down in a second." I nod and start eating my food.

Eren runs into the room and collapses on a chair. "Are we late?"

"Yes." Mikasa says. Armin walks up behind Eren and looks down at the boy.

"Eren you didn't have to run."

"Well I was late, Armin. So yeah. I did have to run." We giggle and eat the rest of our food.

"Are you guys nervous?" Armin asks shaking in his seat.

"Not really." Mikasa says.

"I am." I say.

"I'm a bit nervous." Eren says. I pay his shoulder and he smiles at me.

"Brats were leaving soon!" The corporal calls into the cafeteria.

"Here we go." Eren says under his breath.

Time Skip Outside

I lead my horse out of his/her stable and walk to the other soldiers in the field. "Y/n, don't die, okay?"

"Eren, I'm not going to die. We have skilled soldiers around us. There's nothing for us to worry about." He nods his head and hugs me. I hug back.

"I'm really nervous." He says.

"I think we all are." I respond. He lets go of me and climbs on his horse. I climb onto mine and we make our way through the city.

Some people were wishing us luck and cheering for us while others were complaining and mocking us.

"Eyes forward, Jeager." Levi calls. Eren was looking everywhere except in front of him. "You'll hit someone's horse." Eren looks away from the crowd and looks forward at the wall.

"This is it!" A soldier yells, "This is the day humanity takes a step forward. Show the titans what we are capable of! Open the gate!"

The gate rises. "Forward!" Erwin shouts. We ride out of the gate and leave our city. A few titans got in our way, but the soldiers around us were quick to cut them down.

"Split up!" Erwin shouts.

"Good luck, Y/n." Armin says, turning away from me.

"You too, Armin!"

"Y/n, keep Eren safe." Mikasa says.

"I'll do my best." We continue to ride on the backs of our horses. I look over and see black smoke.

"Captain, an abnormal!" Petra says. The captain stays quiet and continues to lead us to where we need to go.

"I have a message!" A soldier says, coming closer to our formation. "Our right formation has been destroyed. Pass this on to the left!"

"Hear that, Petra? Go."

"Yes sir." Petra removes herself from our formation and rides over to our left. I look over at Eren who's zoning out thinking about the solders on the right.

"Eren, you need to pay attention." I say. He looks over at me and then down at his hands, fidgeting with his thumbs. I look over at three black flares shot in the sky.

"Eren, fire it!" The corporal instructs. Eren shoots a flare into the sky. We continue to follow the captain, only to find ourselves in front of a forest with gigantic trees.

"Captain." Eren calls.

"What is it?"

"We're in a forest! We won't be able to know if a titan makes its way in here until it's right on top of us! How are we supposed to dodge the titans?"

"Eren, it's obvious to us all that we are in a forest. Look around you, Eren. Look at all the big trees that surround you. This is the perfect place to use your 3DM gear. Start using that small brain in your head if you wish to survive."

"Uh- Yes, sir."

"Damn it.." Oluo mutters. "What's going on here?" Eren looks at all the solders around him.

"Eren, you need to look forward." I tell him. He squirms on his horse and listens to me. A black flair is shot in the air behind us.

"It's probably what was coming towards us from the right!" Eld says.

"Draw your blades." Levi says. "We will have to attack it quickly." I listen to the corporal and hold my swords in my hands.

Thump Thump Thump

Behind us is the sound of a titan running. A soldier flies in the air with their 3DM gear and is swiftly smacked against the tree. Chasing us is a female titan with blonde hair and blue eyes.
