Chapter 14

"That should be illegal! Teacher, clearly she's cheating!" Mayvel exclaims.

Nino replys, "No, I'm clearly within my boundaries. It's not my fault you're such a pussy."

"Although Nino should use less derogatory words, she's clearly in the right. Please just join your friend at the bench," The teacher gestures to the bench.

Mayvel crosses her arms, "humph!" she stomps her way to the bench.

"There, there, you'll get her next time," Leocadia tries to reassure her.

In the middle of Mayvel rolling her eyes she notices Via sneaking off towards the exit of the gym. She nudges Leocadia, "hey, look that way," she points to Via.

Leocadia grins, "We should follow her."

Bluebell, who had just recently gotten hit by a ball, butts in the conversation, "no. Don't you remember what happened the other day? What if she does that again? This time she might actually kill you. Just stay out of her business."

Leocadia rolls her eyes, "I said follow, not get caught. Come on no one will notice."

"Oh, and maybe if we record her she'll finally get in trouble! She won't be able to get out of this time, " Mayvel smiles.

Bluebell holds up a hand, "Wait gu-"

"Come on let's go!" Leocadia gets the camera ready.

Bluebell sighs as they scurry away.

Leocadia slowly opens the bathroom door so they can sneak in quietly.

"Shall we engage?"

Via replies, "No, for now keep a distance and investigate why they need humans. We will engage at a later date."

Mayvel whispers, "is that a males voice in there with her?"

Via cuts off the call as soon as she hears whispers. She opens the stall door to find the two eavesdropping. "When did you two come in?" she crosses her arms.

They look behind her to see no one else in the stall.

"Just a little bit ago, but the real question is why are you ditching class? We heard you with a boy in there. Where did you hide him? Hm?" Mayvel starts looking through the other stalls, "come out, come out, wherever you are! You two are going to be in so much trouble when I find him."

Via steps out of the stall to watch Mayvel as she circles back around.

"Hm, well, seems he got lucky, but you on the other hand are finally going to get in trouble," Mayvel says smuggly.

Leocadia tugs on Mayvels shirt, "Mayvel, I thought the whole purpose was to not get caught?" she says between her teeth in a low tone.

Via stares at Mayvel, "How much of my conversation did you hear?"

Mayvel shrugs off Leocadia, "it doesn't matter what we heard. What matters is that you are finally going to get in trouble. Which means the teachers won't be so nice to you and that'll mean your grades will start slipping. Which then will mean I'll finally be top student once again! Heh heh heh!"

Leocadia holds up her phone, "a-and we got it all on camera, so you can't deny any of this either."

Via tries to swipe away the phone, "You need to delete that video right now!" she clenches a fist when she fails to retrieve it.

"No, it's captured evidence against you. We won't just simply delete it," Mayvel chuckles.

"What it's captured is a private conversation that shouldn't be shared with others!" Via starts to get a bit antsy.

Mayvel smirks, "Oh, really? Then maybe we should go share it with the entire class?"

Via creates a wall with the bathroom floor as they attempt to leave, "I can't allow that. Hand over the phone, now," she demands as she holds out a hand.

Leocadia flinches and slowly reaches out to hand the phone over when Mayvel grabs her wrist, "No! We will not give in just because she demands it. She's clearly some kind of elemental. So what? There's lots of those in this school."

Leocadia lowers her head, "Yeah, but she's a really powerful one. You remember the other day right? Bluebell was right, we shouldn't have gotten involved. Please, let's just do as she says-"

"No! You do that and I lose my chance!" Mayvel grabs the phone and dashes through the rock wall.

"Tsk," Via lowers the wall and runs after her.

"Mayvel!" Leocadia calls out.

Via bolts down the short hallway and burst through the gym doors. All the students stare at her as she frantically looks around only to realize Mayvel is not there. The speakers come on and the recording comes through. Via could feel her heart sinking while all the other students stand around confused as to what is happening.

The teacher finds Mayvel and cuts the recording. He drags her and Via into his office.

"What is this recording?" The teacher casually asks.

Mayvel looks smug and confidently says, "Clearly it's a recording of her skipping class. I caught her in the bathrooms."

"Doesn't that mean you were skipping class two?" He raises an eyebrow.

She opens her mouth to speak but no words will come out.

"Mayvel, I've received an email stating that she has special permission to leave class when needed. So, once again, you're in the wrong. Is this going to be a common occurrence with you?" He asks, sounding a bit disappointed in her behavior.

Nino comes barging in, "I need a word alone with Via! Would that be alright? Great!" She pushes them both out and locks the door. She looks back to Via, "What the HELL was that recording?!" she yells.

Via sighs and harshly wipes downward on her face with both hands, "why is this my life!"

"What did you mean to not engage?! They're taking humans off my planet for fucks sake! If you didn't notice that's kinda what makes my civilization."

Via uses her hands while she speaks, "Yes, but I can't just have my troops go randomly storming in! That'd be a suicide mission! We need to know facts before we can do anything."

Nino stomps her foot and points a finger at Via, "But you could be doing something now! Clearly they're going to do something with them, so why not save them now?! Huh?!"

Via throws up her hands, "But you have literally millions of humans! What's a few lives lost compared to important information that we could potentially use later down the road?!"

Five minutes later of arguing, Nino comes storming out of the office past the two that got pushed out.

Via yells out from the doorway, "Once I have the sword it'll be all fixed anyway! So what's the big deal?"

Nino stops walking, "Yeah, and what happens if you never get the damn sword?! How will you fix all the mess that's been caused because of your carelessness!?"

"I will get the sword. I just need time."

Nino looks to Via, "We're already at war. You don't have time."
