Chapter 16

"Whoa, whoa, Via hold on!" Gemerai walks fast alongside Via, "what was that about!? You have to tell us now."

Via swings open the locker room door, "I don't have to tell you jack shit!"

Leona chimes in while trying to keep up, "Via, you nearly killed her!"

"Key word 'nearly,' she'll be fine," Via grabs her clothes and heads to a bathroom stall to change.

"Viiiaa!" Leona whines.

"I said no, now drop it!" Via slams the door and locks it.

The other girls come pouring in to get changed. There's an awkward tension in the air as they all get dressed down. When all the girls leave the men come in to get changed.

"Gemerai, if you want to help me get that sword, make sure you're ready. March fourth, early morning, we'll be gone for two weeks at the most!" Via hollers as she heads off to her next class.

"O-oh okay!" Gemerai replies as she heads down the stairs.

A week and five days pass. It's Sunday morning.

"Happy birthday, Leona!" Everyone shouts.

"Awe, guys!" Leona smiles.

"Now, I know this is a day early but remember Gemerai, you, and me are going on that two week trip starting tomorrow. So, I figured we'd celebrate a bit early. Here," Via hands Leona a gift.

Leona opens it, "Omg! This is the best liquor this universe has to offer! How did you get your hands on this!?"

"Oddly enough, my home planet makes it. I had to pull a few strings to get it but it was worth it."

"Here you go Leona. Open mine next," Gemerai plops a bag in Leona's lap then leans into Via's ear, "so, about the trip. How are we going to go on this trip when we still have school?"

Via whispers back, "Don't worry, I've already arranged that with the principle. He'll put all our homework on hold for us while we're away."

"How did you manage that?"

"Let's just say I've got my ways. Now let's just enjoy the party."

Cynafel hands Leona a gift, "here. I thought you might like this."

Leona's face lights up as she unwraps her gift.

"Oh, no. Not more yaoi," Via facepalms and everyone laughs.

After gifts, Leona and Gemerai set up the gaming system to play the new game. Via chilled on the couch and just watched them. Gemeri, Alya, Cia, Chandra, and Acantha sat talking in one corner of the room. Cynafel, Bonzy, River, and Roone sat talking in the other corner of the room while eating the food that recently got set down.

Leona looked to Via as the front door chimed off, "who else did you invite?"

"Um, this should have been everyone. You keep playing, I'll go check it out," Via gets up and heads for the front door, "hello? ...oh, what do you want?"

"Here. This is an apology gift," Nino holds out a tiny bag, "even though I don't agree with your methods, you must have your reasons for doing what you do."

"That took awhile for you to come around," Via takes the small bag, "what's in the other bag?"

"It's for the birthday girl, you nerd," Nino ruffs up Via's hair, "now, let's go enjoy a party." Via smiles as she reads 'happy juice' on the card attached to a small bottle of vodka that she pulled out of the bag. She heads up the stairs and meets Nino at the doorway.
