Chapter 3: We meet again pt2

Both POV:

Maya and Carina stood in silence for a while, Carina continued to drink her coffee, taking quick glances at the blonde.

Maya wasn't quite sure what to do, here she was with the woman she wanted to avoid.

Was that a sign?

"Ok well... I'm sorry to break this party up but I better head back in" Amelia said before standing up and saying goodbye to Maya.

They were back to the silence again, until Carina thankfully broke it,

"Do you want to sit?" She asked, hoping Maya would sit down next to her.

"Ahh I'd love too" she responded whilst pulling the pushchair closer to the bench and siting down, with Jamie on her lap. "Do you want your cookie bud?" She asked the toddler as he shook his head excitedly,

"here you go bubs"  Maya said whilst she gave the cookie for Jamie to hold and nibble on.

"He's very adorable" Carina said as she watched the little interaction between Maya and Jamie.

"I get that a lot" she replied smiling at Carina before rubbing Jamies back.

"Will I have seen your brother before?" the brunette asked, as she tried to make small talk with the blonde.

"Um I'm not sure considering it's his first time ever going to this hospital" Maya responded.

They soon got interrupted by Andrea making his way over and saying hi to Carina.

"Carina what are you doing out here" he asked confused as to why she wasn't home already.

"Andrea hi, that's such a nice way to greet someone" she said sarcasm evident in her voice.

"Sorry but shouldn't you be home already?" He asked burrowing his eyebrows together in confusion.

"Sì but it was getting to much for me up there I needed to take a break and get some coffee" she said looking at her brother and back to Maya,

"ahhh I'm so rude, Andrea this is Maya Bishop, Maya this is Andrea Deluca" she said letting both people greet each other. "Deluca...? Are you by any chance related to Carina" Maya asked smiling as she shook the mans hand.

"Ahhh caught me" he replied taking Maya's hand and shaking it. "Your the firefighter that saved my sisters life?" He asked taking his hand away from the woman and placing it back in his scrub pants pocket.

"Ahh yes that's me" Maya responded as she smiled at Carina before looking back at Jamie.

"Ok well I better be heading back in, just thought I'd check up on my big sister" he said as he smiled at both women and made his way back inside the hospital. "That's your brother huh?" Maya asked as she started bumping her knee up and down slightly. "Sì my baby brother Andrea" Carina said smiling at the thought of how grown up he was now.

"Well I think I better be going, this little guy most probably wants a nap" she said referring to the little boy on her knees.

"Ahhh well it was nice seeing you again..." Carina told the woman as she held her gaze in her eyes for a little longer than usual.

"Right back at you" Maya said smiling whilst standing up and placing Jamie back in his pushchair.

"Maya..." Carina said desperately wanting to see this woman more,

"hmmmm?" The blonde responded as she looked at the brunette waiting for a response.

"Would you like to get some coffee some time...?" Carina asked slightly feeling nervous about asking the firefighter on a date. Wait... was Carina asking her out, she liked me? Ok maya stay calm here. "Sure that sounds nice, how does tomorrow sound?" Maya asked as she waited for a reply from the brunette. "Sì tomorrow sounds good, want to meet here again, say about 8:30?" Carina asked happy that the blonde said yes. "Sounds good, although I'll have to take you to a better place than this next time" Maya finished as she grabbed the bars of the pushchair and started walking away. Woah that went better than expected, she didn't even expect to see Maya again let alone ask her out. Carina let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding and made her way back into the hospital, chucking her drink away in the nearest trash can.
