Chapter 49: Affected

My exam was today IMMA FAIL

Maya's POV:

The blonde was in a deep sleep she hadn't been able to sleep much due to Jamie's illness keeping her awake mentally, always thinking. Tonight however another reason stopped her from her slumber. She heard coughing, it took a while to register because it was distant but constant, she scanned the room to see if it was her sleeping wife struggling to catch a breath, nope all clear. She then realised the noise was coming from one of the other bedrooms and shot out of bed in an instant, she checked the twins first... nope all good, and then as she made her way to Lexie's room she heard the coughing again and instantly knew where it was coming from. She quickly walked into Jamie's room seeing the boy sat up being sick, "oh baby, it's alright" she soothed quickly grabbing a towel from his bathroom placing it below his mouth so the liquid went onto that instead of his sheets. "I don't think that chicken agrees with your stomach" she said as she rubbed her hand up and down the length of the boys back trying to calm him down, "alright bubs breath" she soothed not wanting him to start hyperventilating, "shhhh shhh it's alright mommy's here" she added feeling as his body shook and more tears poured out of his beautiful blue orbs.

Both POV:

Carina could feel the dip in the bed, turning around to tap Maya's spot next to her, feeling no form of her wife. She groaned knowing Maya probably went for a run, it was only 4:00am but that was no excuse for the blonde. Carina peeled the sheet off of herself and sat up, rubbing her eyes to clearly see, the only light coming from the window allowing her to find her slippers, slipping them on and making her way out of their bedroom. When she made her way into the kitchen Carina could hear whispering and moving about, making the brunette suspicious, feeling herself make her way towards the noise. "Bella?" She asked peering through the door of Jamie's room to see the blonde sat on the bed with a coughing Jamie being sick everywhere, "he won't stop" she said. Carina made her way straight to Jamie running her hand through his sweaty hair whispering in his ear "it's ok, mommas here" she soothed watching as he leaned into the Italian leaning his head on her shoulder gasping for air, "go get him a glass of water please Bella" Carina said to the blonde as she watched her leave the room and retrieve with the cold liquid. "Thanks mommy" Jamie said taking the glass from his mother receiving a smile from the blonde before he slowly sipped the drink. "Good boy nice and slow" Carina praised watching as he poured the water down his throat trying not to drink it too fast but desperately trying to rid the disgusting taste from his mouth. "Should we go to the hospital?" Maya asked concern lacing her voice,
"Sì I think you need to see Dr Richardson" Carina nodded in agreement knowing that being sick was one of the side affects but just wanting to be on the safe side.

"Hi guys come on in and take a seat" Dr Richardson greeted as she lead the women to her office, Jamie being in Maya's arms wrapped up in a blanket.
It was 7:00 on a Saturday Jack was babysitting their other children whilst they were at Grey Sloan hospital. "Right... what seems to be the issue?" She asked as she sat down grabbing Jamie's notebook especially for him, "well I was woken up last nice by some odd noises I thought it was Carina but realised it was Jamie throwing up..." the blonde explained as she held Jamie on her lap the boy snuggled up in her arms. "Ahhh ok well at our next appointment I was going to mention that it could have something to do with the chemo" she started "meaning that one of the side affects of it is being sick, and some other things, you might want to look out for tiredness, bruising and bleeding and loss of hair" she added noticing that he was already loosing his hair and it was quite clear that he looked exhausted, the chemo draining everything out of him.

"Ok so we shouldn't be worrying?" Carina asked as she felt slightly relieved at the doctors words, "no not at all it's completely normal" she said "I'll see you next week Jamie" the woman said standing up to softly high five the boys fragile sweaty hand. "Bye bye" he replied smiling weakly at the doctor before Maya stood up making her way out of the office, with Carina following close behind. "Hey Jamie" they heard a small voice say as they shut the door to the doctors office, looking down at a small girl wrapped in a pink blanket a black beanie placed over her bald head,"Hey Isabelle" Jamie replied smiling softly at the girl before waving his goodbye when the girls mother called her. Isabelle was someone Jamie had met during his time at the hospital, becoming friendly with the girl having the same condition. Jamie liked the little girl, giving him someone to relate too and be friends with.
