Chapter 48: We almost lost you

Both POV:

It was a normal Saturday day, Jamie was gradually getting sicker, the twins were getting older day by day, and Lexie was well.... Lexie. Little did Carina know that the phone call she was about to get was going to change everything. "Bambina can you get that" she called down the hallway not being able to grab it herself because she was changing Georgia's diaper. Maya grabbed the phone and answered it furrowing her eyebrows at the IP address, "hello?" She said hearing a woman's voice on the other end, "hi is this Carina Deluca?" She asked obviously wanting to speak to the brunette, "no her wife speaking" she replied "oh hi there" she said "what would this be regarding?" She asked not knowing what this phone call was about, "this would be regarding her brother Andrew Deluca he's been in and accident" she said not hearing a response from the blonde after a few minutes, Maya had a close bond with the man so this hit her quite hard he was like a brother to her, "ma'm?" She asked not knowing if the phone call had ended or not, "sorry yes" she replied "what happened?" She added wanting to know how bad of a condition he was in. "He was stabbed pretty badly, a lot of blood has been lost" she answered, "ok can I go get my wife and she can speak to you?" She asked not wanting to be the one to hear all of this, "yes that's ok" she said letting the woman go retrieve her wife.

"Honey it's for you" Maya said watching as the brunette turned around smiling, knowing that smile would soon fall from her gorgeous face making her frown, "Sì who is it?" She asked seeing Maya's frown but ignoring it, "the hospital" she replied as the brunette took the phone and pressed it against her ear. "Hello" she said into the receiver end of the phone, "Sì I am her...Sì... oh my goodness" she gasped listening to what the nurse was telling her, Maya had made her way over to the brunette and was softly rubbing her hands up and down her back for comfort. "Ok yes I'll be there" she said before ending the phone call and burying her face into the blondes neck immediately, "it's ok my love he'll be alright" she said trying to sooth her, pressing kisses to her neck softly whilst her hands rubbed the length of her back. "What if he's not?" She asked sobbing into the blondes shoulder, "we can't think like that" she replied leaning back so she could wipe away her tears, she knew how tough it is to battle the thought of loosing someone. "I can get jack to watch the kids so we can go see him?" She asked not knowing what she wanted to do, "Sì" she nodded wrapping her arms around the blondes neck bringing her closer.

Once they arrived at the hospital both women made their way to the nurses station, "I was called for my brother Andrew Deluca" she said watching as the nurse looked him up on her computer, "ok up on the 3rd floor room 145" she said, both women made their way up to his room standing outside the brunette hesitating, "come on I'll come in with you" Maya soothed placing her hand on the Italians lower back slowly guiding her in the room. "Oh Andrea" she gasped placing her hands over her mouth in shock, she slowly made her way towards him hearing the beeping from the machine he was on, she grabbed a chair and placed it next to his head whilst Maya waited by the door. "Who did this to you hmmm?" She asked speaking to his unconscious form mainly talking to herself though, "you'll be ok... you can't leave me, not with our crazy father" she said laughing softly, "and what about your nephews and nieces... they adore you" she said starting to tear up as she placed her hand on his head stroking his forehead with her thumb. Carina continued to speak to her brother, Maya listening from her position at the door "would you like me to get you something from the cafeteria?" She asked wanting to comfort the brunette as much as she could, "yes please Bella" she replied smiling softly at the blonde knowing she was trying to help, "a sandwich" she added watching as the blonde smiled and then opened the door leaving the brunette and her brother alone.

After a couple hours at the hospital Carina was still sat next to Andrew her hand not moving from its place on his head. "Mmmm" she heard turning around to the blonde "was that you?" She asked seeing Maya make her way towards the brunette shaking her head no. "Nope that wasn't me" she replied "Carina?" She heard turning her head back to her brother who was opening his eyes squinting because of the light, "oh thank god" she sighed relieved he was alive and awake, "what happened?" He asked not being able to remember what had happened just yet, "you were stabbed" she replied softly not wanting to trigger anything for the man. "Oh right yea" he replied his face falling slightly at the memory. "I thought I was going to loose you" she whispered tears falling from her sore eyes, "I'm here" he said trying his best to move his hand so he could wipe away her tears.
