Gabriella looked at her feet, then the distance between her and that little cabin. Her eyes automatically shifted to her mate. She never thought she'd have it in her to do this, but today, she was actually doing it.
She took in a deep breath, then gave Grey a smile. It was an assurance that she was okay. Or at least, she was going to be.
But Grey wasn't buying it. He knew that this was possibly the hardest thing Gabriella had to do in ages.
"Gabby, we can go back home, you're not ready for this yet", Grey held his mate's hands in his.
He could feel her sadness even with her strong front. If anyone could know her better, it was him. They already had a lot on their hands and this would only drain Gabriella.
So he didn't know why she insisted on being at the cabin. Romania was a lot to take care of, she was rebellious and wasn't ready to listen to anyone.
Now, Grey believed he was right to have kept the King and Queen's death from her. He just couldn't imagine the kind of hatred that would have bloomed in the girl's heart.
"I'm fine Grey, it's now or never", Gabriella finally replied. She took her first step towards the cabin and Grey followed.
The little garden beside the cabin only reminded her of Addie, the Omega turned Gamma.
This was the life the young woman wanted. A loving mate, a little woodsy cabin and a mini garden she could take care of on her own,and also Jace, the boy she raised.
That was her dream complete family. Gabriella remembered everything as it was only a night old.
But truth be told, this was almost twenty years ago. Her heart ached, the guilt was still eating her up. She held her chest as her eyes shined with tears.
"Gabby", Grey whispered softly in her ears as he hugged her from the back and kissed her cheeks.
Gabriella turned to look at Grey. A look at her mate and the tears started to free fall.
"You've not seen her yet and you are already crying your eyes out", Grey said sadly.
"I'm sorry, I just can't help it", she apologized as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
"Let's go?", She asked.
Grey clutched her hands in his as they walked to the cabin together. He gently tapped on the door.
Not long after, a rather surprised Luke was staring at the Alpha couple. His yes kept moving from Grey to Gabriella, his lips slightly apart.
Anyone barely saw the Luna outside the comfort of her home, and now here she was, right by his doorstep.
To say he was surprised, was even an understatement, he was shockprised.
"Can I see her?", Gabriella pleaded.
And with those puffy eyes, he could never deny her the chance of seeing Addie.
Yes he was upset when she hadn't showed up all these years. But he had grown to understand her grief. And everyone had realized that the Luna wasn't the same.
Luke nodded and opened the door wide enough for the couple to enter. No words had to be said. For Luke was speechless, he just hoped this could at least make Gabriella forgive herself even when none of this was her fault.
For they knew very much that she blamed herself .
"She's in the kitchen, follow me", Luke led the way.
Just in case Gabriella didn't remember. He knew she remembered every part of the cabin, it was hers for years. But to make sure she didn't bath in the past, he and Gray had to be her guide. Her guide to look forward to the future and let the past be in the past.
