King's POV
"Ahh," he hissed in pain and surprise at the same time as I started walking down the steps. He wasn't all that heavy so it wasn't a big deal. "Damn, I hope no one sees this," he laughed with one arm around the back of my neck so I wouldn't drop him but I wasn't that big of a dick. I wouldn't let him fall down the stairs again.
It made me laugh too though. I couldn't care less if they did or didn't. It didn't bother me either way. The way I see it, if they talk shit about me or to me, I'd just hit them and feel better.
Once we reached the bottom I put him back down on the ground again as his cheeks turned a little pink and looked quickly to the ground with a shy smile. "You- you really didn't have to do that but thank you. That... really helped a lot."
"It's fine. Let's not make a big deal about it," I said rudely. I really shouldn't have helped him in the first place. Ugh, I just couldn't help it with this kid for some reason. It was starting to get on my nerves.
He just laughed a little at my comment as we walked outside of the school together. He now had a small limp. When he thought I wasn't looking he let the pain show on his face. He was trying hard not to let me know so I didn't make a big deal about it.
It was hard to walk so slow but I had a feeling he would try to keep up with me if I walked normally without telling me he was in pain or even ask me to slow down.
As soon as we walked out of the iron gates off the school grounds I looked up and down the street. I liked knowing what was around me at all times. I've been jumped a few times so it was a habit now.
The streets were kinda bare in my opinion with someone riding a bike this way. Nothing too alarming though. The sidewalks were clear and I didn't see anyone around before we walked out of the gate so I relaxed myself a little more.
"Your uncle not here yet?" He asked as we stopped before parting ways.
"No I'll be walking today," I told him truthfully. I was just too embarrassed to tell him the truth yesterday.
"Okay then." He looked down at his plan black watch and started stepping backward. "I have to get going now. Be carefully walking home. I'll see you tomorrow," he smiled his big bright stupid smile at me that made me smile without realizing it.
"Yeah. I guess- shit, watch out!" I grabbed his arm and pulled him into my chest as the fuck head on the bike zoomed passed way too close.
"Watch it puke!" The man yelled. He didn't even try to stop to check to see if Leo was okay. I could feel my protective side kick into high gear as I followed the guy with my eyes. He was moving really fast as my anger kicked into overdrive.
I heard a whimper in front of me and looked back over to see Leo with pain all over his face as he tried to pull his arm free from my grip. "Oh shit!" I yelled and let go of his arm as he quickly grabbed it with his other hand and pulled it into his chest. "Are you okay? I didn't mean to hurt you."
I put my hand on his shoulder to try and comfort him. I felt like such a dick when I saw the tears in his eyes. I didn't want to see him in more pain and ended up doing just that by my own hand. "Here let me see. I really didn't mean to-,"
"No!" He yelled, a little panicked, and pulled his arm even closer as he stepped away from me. "No it's- it's okay. It's not your fault. I just- I- I just pulled it yesterday. I- I- I have to go."
He started to turn as I panicked. "No wait, Leo I'm-," I grabbed his shoulder to stop him making him jump around at me again as he shook.
All I saw was fear in his eyes. Fear towards me. It was a feeling that twisted my stomach just to see.
"It-it's okay. It's- it's fine. I'm s- sorry. It's not your fault. I have to- to go," he said in a shaking voice as I saw the fear turn into panic.
He turned around and ran across the street quickly disappearing around the corner.
I let out a sigh and rubbed my eyes with frustration. Shit, that upset me the way he looked at me like that.
Looking back down the street, I saw the guy on the bike sitting at the corner and starting walking that way as I growled in anger with a twisted smile. I mean I had to walk that way to go home anyways. "It's just my lucky day," I said out loud to myself. It's been a while since I fought someone and this guy just made the top of my shit list.
---
"What's up, man?" I asked him as he looked up from his phone.
"Who the fuck are you?" He asked me as I walked closer. I called out to him before I got too close, giving him a little chance to run away but this guy doesn't seem like he was that smart.
"You almost hit someone back there. You want to apologize?" I gave him one more chance since my uncle stressed to me about staying out of trouble.
"Fuck you. Your little puke-ass friend should have been watching where he was going. You know who I work for?" He stood up tall like that was supposed to scare me off.
"Nope and I really don't give a shit who it is." I grabbed his shirt and threw him to the ground with me on top as he started to shake in fear. "You should have apologized when you had the change and you can tell your little boss man my name is fucking King let him come after me. See if I don't do the same to him."
I started punching him. Fuck this guy. I was so pissed he made me hurt Leo like that. The fear in Leo's eyes flashed before me, fueling my rage. He didn't even care at all that he almost hit him. I know I shouldn't care about that kid either and really, I don't want to care but here I am caring for some god-known reason beating the shit out of this guy who almost hit him.
Maybe it was the way he smiled at me with no fear toward me before or the way he didn't shy away from me like everyone else or maybe it's because I saw the pain underneath his smile today. Whatever it is, it was annoying the hell out of me and pissed me off that he will look at me in fear from now on. All because of this piece of shit.
I heard the police sirens in the background, making me snap out of this red haze I was in as I looked down. Shit. I blacked out for a minute. He was messed up badly. Blood was all over the ground and on my hand but he was still breathing. I got up and started walking quickly across the street and dipped in an alley.
Fuck, my uncle would be so pissed if I got caught.
"Call the ambulance down. This guy is bad. Hold up, got a gun here," a cop yelled and I looked around the corner to see what the hell was going on.
They pulled the man's shirt up and there it was clear as day. How did I not feel that sooner?
After that, they searched his bike pulling out a handful of little baggies with white pills inside. I smacked my forehead. Well fuck, my uncle is really going to kill me now. But I did find it funny that I threaten to beat up my uncle to the guy without knowing.
