*put on the video for some ambient noise, I also just realized that only works on pc so you can just enjoy without it, sorry*
The party was packed with people from school and probably from outside of school as well, she honestly wouldn't be able to tell as she had only been there for a week. She was frantically hoping to find a familiar face as she felt eyes on her as if she was out of place, and god knows she did feel like she didn't belong there.
"Y/N?" a voice called as she reached the snack table. "Oh, MJ. Thank god you're here. Johanna immediately ditched me at the sight of a cute guy. I swear that girl has issues." She chuckled, Mj handed her a piece of toast, possibly the weirdest party snack but she took it. "And you only know this now? Ned was already looking for you so you wouldn't have been on your own for long." She deadpanned, taking a bite of her own food. "He really likes you you know. Poor dude thinks he's got a chance."
"That's kind of mean, MJ." a frown formed on her face. She thought they were good friend, but MJ could say some really hurtful stuff sometimes. "Am I wrong? You'd date Ned?"
"I'm just not interested in dating right now. Everyone seems to think that should be my number one goal, but I've got other stuff to focus on at the moment." As soon as she finished her sentence, they could see Ned and Peter making their way to them, weaving through the crowds, a large smile on Ned's face. MJ shrugged," sounds like an excuse to me." not really caring enough either. "What's up losers!" MJ called to them. "Hey Y/N." Ned completely ignored her comment receiving an acknowledging nod and smile from Y/N who was chomping down on her toast. "How are you enjoying the party?"
"It's alright." She shrugged. "Let's go outside, it'll be a bit less crowded there."
They all walked outside and the noise fell to the background a little as they were some of the few willing to face the cold evening air. Y/N looked around frantically as soon as she noticed something. "Do you smell something burning?" She asked no one in particular. "Probably neighbours lit a campfire or a BBQ or something." Peter shrugged, but her eyes fell on a large plume of smoke a few houses down. it was barely noticeable in contrast with the dark sky but there was a vague orange light coming from below it.
"Oh my lord! Guys!" They followed her gaze and were just as surprised as she was. "Do you think they need help?" She was sure it was a fire that wasn't exactly meant to be there and the only thing she wanted was to help. But she couldn't exactly stroll in to help random civilians and she didn't have a suit like the others either. They only thing she could do was hope that someone would be there that could help. Be it firefighter or Avenger.
"Don't worry about it. I'm sure help is on the way." Yet MJ still surprisingly decided to call 911. At least that did calm her down a bit. What she didn't realise was that one of the people from her group had disappeared from their side.
"So, Y/N. Do you like video games?" Ned awkwardly tried to start conversation. "oh, well ..." she decided to go with it and talk about the games she had played, and he listened like a dear.
"Y/N!!" Johanna had found her way back to her and she was obviously intoxicated. "Come dance with me! Here, have a drink." She decided to take it and just gulp it down, the taste was foul as she was sure the cup was just filled with a mix of testosterone and self doubt. "I'll see you guys later!" This was her first party, and she was going to see what all the fuss was about. Besides, she would absolutely kill it on the dancefloor after all those years dancing in her bedroom to whatever song she liked at the time. She certainly caught the eyes of some people that were still unknown to her.
After some time she felt a buzzing coming from her purse. She wormed her way to the edge of the room and looked at her phone that read 'I'm waiting' and 23.05 in a large font above it. "Sh*t." She mumbled under her breath and went back to Johanna.
"I have to go!!" she yelled over the music, pulling the girl toward her a little. "should I come with you!?" Johanna offered.
"No, I'll get a cab. You should too, you've had too much to drink to still drive safe." Johanna nodded, promising to take a cab before letting her leave and going back to the dance floor. She would have said goodbye to MJ, Ned and Peter but she couldn't see them anywhere in the thick crowd. It was as if more people had piled in the later it got. In her search she bumped into someone, almost getting knocked down with that force. The guys hand wrapped around her forearms to keep her steady.
"I'm sorry." she muttered, looking up at who had caught her. She had seen him around at school. He wasn't in her year but his blond hair, handsome features and strong build was something everyone in the school noticed. "No problem. You alright?" his voice was like honey and velvet as he spoke just loud enough for her to hear as they stood away from the heart of the party. She shook herself from her thoughts and he abruptly pulled away. "ah, seems we had some spark going there." he laughed, shaking the shock from his hand. She didn't even realize he was touching her skin. "I'm alright, just a bit startled, but I guess I already got payback huh." she awkwardly laughed it off before excusing herself in a hurry.
"Hey, wait!" he called from behind her but she wasn't going to be stupid enough to be even more late.As she stepped out the door she noticed a way too expensive Audi standing at the side of the road waiting for her.
"You didn't have to come pick me up." she muttered as she got in the passenger seat.
"You smell like beer." Tony didn't seem happy about the situation. She just wasn't sure if he was going to yell as soon as they got home or if he was planning to be cold to her for the coming week. Either way she wasn't ready for it.
"I know, it's revolting." she answered with a grimace.
"Glad you had fun."
