Part 14: training is a skill of its own

Shuri and Y/N had now been working on their project for a few weeks and it was finally time to move on and start working on turning their prototypes into a suit. Shuri would be working on a suit for her brother, the black panther, while Y/N would modify the suit she got from her father.

She stared down at the small watch, it being quite similar to her first prototype but being capable of much more. She flicked her wrist back and turned it, the watch in response morphing, crawling over her hands until settling as sleek black gloves, veins of purple running across its surface.

"I did it! And I didn't loose a finger!"  Y/N yelped, showing off her gloves to Shuri, who smirked in response. "That's great." She went on to show of her latest prototype. The neckpiece she had made started to morph around the mannequin that it rested on. Stretching over the chest up to the waist before falling apart. Y/N burst out laughing at the look of shock on Shuri's face. "That's what you get for trying to show off." She giggled.

"It's not that funny." Shuri scoffed, yet soft amusement graced her features. "So you're finally starting your new training today?" she changed the subject as she jotted down some notes.

She had been training with Bruce a lot during her time at the facility and she had learned to control her ability quite well. She hadn't felt like she had learned to use it in a useful way however. She thought maybe if she could learn to react faster, train her reflexes, that she might be able to use her abilities faster as well. The only reason she hadn't trained with anyone else was because she was still afraid of hurting someone, though the gloves she created would likely prevent her from accidentally doing so. "Yeah, I'm nervous though." She admitted.

"Oh come on, nothing to be nervous about. Besides, if you're able to disintegrate vibranium I will personally crown you ruler of the planet, because at that point no one will be able to stop you." Shuri laughed, knowing that in some way she did have a point. "Tell me all about it tomorrow okay?"

She and Shuri had become great friends in the weeks that they had been working together. They could actually be themselves around each other without expectations or judgement, just a little friendly rivalry.

She soon moved from the workshop to the rooftop, where she was meeting with Spiderman. She was now wearing the suit her father had made her along with her newly created gloves.

"Hi." she abruptly turned, in slight shock, to the voice that came from beside her. "I, uhm, sorry. I'm Spiderman." he stretched out his hand for her to shake. "and you are?" he asked after a moment of silence.

She hadn't thought about it yet. She wasn't allowed to tell him who she really was so what was she supposed to tell him. Atom? no that's stupid. Morphius. Sounds like a dude. "Ah, right. My name is" She stared down at her hands, still thinking, watching the veins running trough her suit. "Indigo." She blurted. 'Still a stupid name' she grumbled to herself. "I know, it sounds stupid." She started fiddling. She hadn't been this nervous before, but she hadn't needed to conceal her identity like this either. "NO, no. I think it's kinda cool actually. Indigo." He repeated, it rolled off his tongue like soft silk and she suddenly didn't find the name so stupid anymore.

"Thanks." She smiled a smile that he couldn't see. "So," she started awkwardly "we're training together."
"YES, right. They told me you needed to train reaction speed?" he questioned to which she nodded.
"Yeah, and I thought who better to ask than mister reflexes himself." she shrugged, already secretly cursing herself for the awkward vibe she had created. "Well it kind of comes with the spider powers. Like a sixth sense." he said with a shrug.
"a spidey sense." she smiled, yet her smile got hidden by the mask yet again.
"Let's see what we can do."

They started training, starting out with her basically trying to dodge his webbing, which she failed most off the time seeing he just had incredibly good aim.

"Come on! This is just unfair." she groaned, frustrated at herself. She went to sit down for a moment, needing a break.
"Don't worry Indigo. It's our first day of training. If you want to get better you can't expect to get it on the first day." he tried encouraging her, knowing that maybe he was making it a bit too difficult. "Well aren't you mister wise guy." she scoffed, but she already sounded a little more relaxed than during training.

"I think you're just too stressed. You can't react quickly when you're tense." he reasoned, partly to himself. After a moment of just looking out over the edge of the roof, he spoke up again. "I have got an idea. I have to go, but meet me downstairs next time. Like, Friday evening?" he suggested to which she gladly agreed yet would wonder what he had planned until they met again.

The day of her next training came rather soon as her days were so filled that they flew by. So now she met up with Spiderman downstairs in the main area, feeling ridiculous having to wear the suit all the time.

"Ping pong?" she looked at him in disbelief as he stood in front of the pingpong table, paddles in hand.

"Come on, spidey. We're going to look ridiculous. Just chilling in our super suits." she laughed, but he didn't see it as a laughing matter, at least he tried not to laugh. "Oh you were doing this to look cool. And here I thought you were trying to get better, silly me." he started walking off but was quickly stopped.
"okay, okay. It's on, spidey boy." she said, and got ready to play.

She understood why he had chosen pingpong as training. He'd hit and she'd miss 80% of the time, and she had to run after the ball every single time. They played for so long that it started to feel like some intense cardio.
She ran after the ball for the millionth time but this time it was stopped by someone's foot, rudely crushing it.
"Dad~"she grumbled with clenched teeth and stood back up, far enough from spiderman so he wouldn't hear.
"Don't address me with that tone young lady. I thought you both were training." He said pointedly, looking at Spiderman holding a paddle and then back at her.

"We are, reflexes remember. Spiderman is too good though, maybe I should train first with someone more on my level." the pout could be heard in her voice and he raised an eyebrow in response.
"Are you assuming I am bad at table tennis?"
She didn't reply, just nodded sweetly, making her way back to the table. "Oh well, if you're not up for the challenge." She shrugged, to which his reply of "move aside kid" wasn't all too unexpected.

After that day, training with Spiderman had become a lot less awkward and a lot more fun. They'd switch between different types of training, at times coming up with more weird ideas, like tossing and catching coins for an hour. Of course all of this fun and games would eventually lead back to the more serious training.
After a month or so, Natasha offered to train fighting with her. So now she had school, perfecting the nano-tech suit with Shuri in the morning, training her power with Bruce most evenings, training reflexes with Spiderman once a week and training fighting with Natasha whenever she still found the time.
