Everyone was happy when she got back, and of course there had to be a party in her honor. It wouldn't be Tony Stark's place if there wasn't a party every chance he got.
He even let her invite her friends, no longer caring if the world knew about his amazing daughter. He would fend off anyone who looked at her wrong either way.
So now they stood in the large dimly lit loungroom with people she did and did not know, but most importantly the Avengers, her family.
"I believe I owe you my gratitude." Stephen Strange had come up to her, dressed in a slightly too fancy suit for the occasion. "I didn't expect to see you here." she said with a shy smile.
She had only met him once, twice if you count the time she removed a bullet from his spine.
"I did what I had to do. You don't owe me anything." she assured him.He smiled and nodded. "Well, if you are ever in need, I will see what I can do." he was sincere.
"I'll keep it in mind."Strange let her be at the sight of her friends entering the party. "have fun." he smiled, leaving her side and probably the party itself.
"Guys! Over here!" she waved them over to the bar. Johanna walked up to her first, immediately hugging her. "We were so worried. We heard you and James got into an accident. You have got to start being more careful." she sounded both angry and relieved. By the time she pulled away, the others had joined them as well. James, Peter, Cindy, MJ, Ned and a blond girl she can't recall meeting, yet she seemed familiar enough.
"Y/N! What on earth are you doing throwing a party at the Avengers facility. We got picked up in a f'in limousine!" Ned exclaimed.
"Well," she started "my boyfriend's an Avenger." she said as if nervous to tell them such big news. "Steve Rodgers" she nodded at their shocked faces. Peter looked like he was about to laugh and burst in flames at the same time.
"What?! really!?!" MJ didn't want to show how freaked she was, she was doing a terrible job at it.
"No, but now it might be easier for you to believe the Tony Stark is my dad." she shrugged, laughing as their faces stayed in the same shocked expression. MJ, Ned, Johanna, Cindy and the other girl all looked at Peter and James who didn't seem that surprised.
"It's true." they said in union, looking at each other before taking an awkward step away from oneanother. Y/N and Peter locked eyes for a moment, smiling at each other."So you're Y/N Stark?" Cindy asked, interrupting their gaze, trying to confirm what she just dropped on them was real.
"Well I was adopted by his cousin when I was little so still Carbonell, but technically yeah, I'm a Stark.""And you guys knew about this?" MJ questioned the two guys.
"Only recently." James defended, Peter shrugging in response, scared to say too much. Again Peter's eyes landed on hers, a playful wink directed her way. She tried to change to subject to not get flustered."I'm sorry but, this must be really awkward. We haven't been introduced." Y/N turned to the blond girl who was silently standing at the side of the group, obviously feeling a little taken back and intimidated by the whole situation. She looked at her properly, noticing her light curls, petite build and button nose with a light sheen of pink and freckles. She was just the definition of adorable.
"Me too actually." Peter butted in, not actually having seen them until they all arrived at the party."Oh, right, sorry." Ned felt a bit stupid, he just assumed they knew her already. "Guys, this is Rosie. She's my girlfriend." Ned introduced, putting an arm around her. Y/N let out a giggle in shock before introducing herself with a grin. "Hi, I'm Y/N." She smiled brightly. Peter couldn't help but chuckle as well.
"What's so funny?" Ned asked, looking between the two of them
"Nothing, I'm just happy for you. How long have you been dating?" Y/N started as the others just stood next to her. Either because they had already met or in Peter's case in utter confusion. "About 3 weeks." Rosie nodded with a grin, she looked genuinely so happy she could burst.
"Wow, lots happens when you're gone I guess." She huffed, only now realising how long she had been gone.
"Well he had to get over you somehow." MJ leaned closer, speaking only for them to hear. "MJ!" she always thought she could be so mean, but she knew she was just joking as she shrugged.
"Hey," Peter had gotten closer to her "can I talk to you for a sec." she nodded and let him lead her away from the group and further from the rest of the crowd."So where do you fit in the whole James and I had an accident cover up?" she asked as they walked through the glass door onto the balcony.
"I got a really bad flu after a week of working at my STARK internship."
She laughed at the explanation.
"There is no way anyone believes that! You must have almost died from a flu that bad! Did my dad really think of that? My God I think we need to-"
"will you be my girlfriend?" her words got cut off by his and she wasn't sure I she heard him correctly. To her it was both the obvious thing to do and an utter dream. Her logical side would never be able to stop the butterflies from going crazy in her stomach and the blood rushing to not only her cheeks, but her entire face.
"Nothing is stopping us anymore, so" he walked closer to her, placing her hands on her neck and his forehead against hers. His eyes closed as he whispered the words to her onse more for only them to hear."Will you be my girlfriend?"
She felt both flustered and embarrassed to give him an answer. So she gave him the next best thing. A kiss so sweet and so slow that it could melt Peter in a second, if she let him. They had shared a kiss before but not like this, not without worry, without fear, only the happiness, and love, they share. She broke away only to give him a proper answer "of course, Peter."she said with a grin so wide, but it soon turned to a mischievous one. "though I don't know if spidey would like that too much" she winked making him laugh. "He'll learn to share." and before she could react, he pulled her into another kiss.Meanwhile at the other side of the glass there was a group of doofeses cheering them on. And a lightly ticked off Tony.
