Part 34: Back To Normal Banter

Not even 15 minutes had passed yet she had already fallen asleep when her dad came to check on her.

"Why is it that every time I come see my daughter, you're here." Tony grumbled, easily keeping back the smirk he truly wanted to show.
He could see Peter visually getting nervous. His eyes wide as he stumbled to get some words out. Yet his grip on Y/N did move, he was careful no to wake her.

"She was just tired and cold and she asked me, uhm, I'm sorry, I just." nothing he could say would have made this situation any less bad in his mind. Tony was very protective of Y/N. And he had cut him some slack when she wasn't doing well, but now that she was doing better, he didn't know how Tony would react.

"Thank you." Tony nodded.

"for being there for her, for keeping me up to date while I wasn't there, for keeping her safe." he stepped closer to the bed, not looking Peter in the eyes because he knew if he did, he would put his stern dad demeanor on again. "thank you." he almost whispered.

The room was silent until Tony cleared his throat. "Now. Get your hands off my daughter and get out!" he said loud enough to sound like a yell but not loud enough to wake her.

Peter was careful putting her down on the bed properly, even taking the time to tuck her in, before rushing past Tony. Scared to make eye contact because he might kill him.

When Peter closed the door behind him, Tony made his way to the side of her bed. He smiled, kissing her forehead before making his way out as well.

It took her a day to wake up again, and she felt sore when she did. Almost like she had done a full body workout the day before. Nat had laid some fresh clothes out for her before she left back to the facility with the others as they had transported doctor strange back there. Only Tony had stayed, much to Peter's dismay as Tony had sent him back to his worried aunt.

Y/N walked through the hall, as if on instinct walking back to Shuri's lab.
Shuri noticed her and bowed "My queen." she joked.
"what are you on about." Y/N laughed.
"Well I did say I would personally crown you queen of earth if you managed to disintegrate vibranium. Not only that but you healed a man with a hole through his spine. So I took the liberty of crowning you in your sleep." Shuri shrugged, making her laugh harder.

"Oh yeah, I do remember something like that. I guess that now makes all of you puny humans." she giggled, doing a hair flip for dramatic effect. Shuri threw one of her tools at her to shut her up. Y/N's instinct wasn't to dodge but to catch it, yet before it even reached her, it stopped. Hovering in the air in front of her hand.
"Wow I guess me reflexes did get better." she smiled in awe, slowly placing it on the table.

"Showoff." Shuri smirked. "and to think I took the liberty of upgrading your suit."

"You did?!" Y/N walked over to see her suit was indeed in a semi-neat heap on the table in front of her.
"It's similar to my brother's. Basically all the energy projected to the suit can be projected outward as well. I guess you might be able to do something with that. Though I do hope you don't get hit too bad." she visibly cringed.

Y/N hugged her without a second thought. "Thank you Shuri, for all that you've done for us. You are the best friend anyone could have."

"Watch out or I might cry." a voice dripping with sarcasm said from behind them. "I agree, I didn't know she had this side to her."

It was obvious that it was Tony and T'challa. The girls broke away to face them. "Oh brother, you just wish I would hug you. Come on, come here."she said, motioning with her hand for him to walk into her arms.
"A king does not hug his subordinates." he winked. Shuri gasped, grabbing yet another one of her tools to throw. But it didn't get passed Y/N and her unamused look.
"Stop throwing stuff at people, that hurts ya know." she went up to her dad after placing it down.

"You ready to leave, they're waiting for us."he smiled and she nodded. Saying goodbye to Shuri and T'challa, thanking them once again, she made her way to the jet with her dad.

"Maybe we should have you train with Wanda next." he pointed out. She laughed but knew he was right. She had gotten a lot stronger yet had a lot to learn as well.
