Peter ran from the back of the group as soon as he heard Cindy and Johanna's pleading calls for Y/N to return. He got to them and saw their eyes widen at the sight of his unscratched self. "Where are the others?" He merely asked, the same look in his eyes as Y/N had just a moment ago, already making them anxious.
"Y/N just ran to the fire escape to look for you, MJ, Ned and James. I think she went inside." Johanna all but choked on her words as she anxiously stared at the collapsing building, being held by a just as petrified Cindy. "Peter!" Called a voice not too far away. "Thank god you're okay. Is Ned with you? where is Y/N?" MJ questioned him as she had run to him with a sense of urgency.
"They're still inside." He muttered. Without a second thought he took off just as fast as she had. Calls again being directed his way as he went to help. But to his surprise, by the time he had changed into his suit, help had already arrived. The girl was carrying both Ned and James on her shoulders, both barely conscious. "Spidey! Help me out here." Indi called out as soon as she saw him. Doing so made her breath in more heavily causing her lungs to fill with more smoke. A burning dry cough made her body quake, almost dropping both of the boys that leaned against her.
He took Ned from her grip, already carrying him out, expecting her to follow right behind. Yet she didn't, instead she took off her glove and raised her hand.
"Come on, hurry! What are you doing?!" He urged. But she shook her head in response. "Something I haven't tried before. You go on ahead." She focused as hard as she could, hoping she wasn't about to gas everyone in the room. She focused on the carbondioxide high above their heads, slowly turning it to water that came raining down on them. Some of the flames extinguished and it got easier for them to breath and make their way back outside without getting burnt.
As they got outside they took no time in laying them down on the grass where the other students stood and making their way back, no questions asked. "There is still someone in here. I just don't know where." Spiderman stated, looking around frantically, she nodded knowing exactly who he meant. "Ironman's coming this way as well. Let's split up for now, see who else is inside." They were ready to split up when she grabbed his wrist. "Be careful Spidey." she said with a nod. "You too Indi." with that they went their separate ways.
Y/N made her way to the source of the fire, trying to douse the flames as much as she could but she felt it exhaust her. She found a few people in her path, helping them up, from under rubble and leading them out of dangers way. But she didn't find anyone she knew. She couldn't find him. She didn't see him here, not outside, and she knew there was something she was missing.
"Y/N, " She heard her father's voice trough the mask. "Everyone's safe, you can come out." He urged. She knew he was floating above the building as she could vaguely hear his jets.
"Are you sure?" Her voice sounded raspy as she started coughing again. She tried to douse the flames in the room she was in but she felt the strength to do so fail her, instead of drops of water it was rubble that rained down on her this time.Tony heard her struggle and shot into action to go get her, finding her under a heap of rubble. Barely conscious. Barely breathing. He lifted her up , trying not to hurt her as the groans of pain left her throat none the less. He stopped for a moment as the got outside, carefully landing on the soft grass. He deactivated her suit, revealing the face of his beloved daughter. It took all of his power not to fall to his knees and instead walk towards the ambulance that awaited to help people that needed aid. His face stayed stoic as he laid her down on the stretcher, but his eyes betrayed him when spiderman approached and his mask was quickly back over his head. Spiderman hesitated a moment as well, his eyes glued to her lifeless body for a moment for just long enough to notice her chest still rising and falling. "Where's Indi?" He asked Tony, trying not to let anyone notice that he knows the girl that was being carried away.
"Don't worry about it kid. She went back already." Without another word, he flew off as well. He didn't worry, he tried not to worry. But Tony's eyes made him worry. He caught only a glimpse but he noticed the genuine worry on his face. Not worry you'd have for a random stranger, but worry for a family member, for a daughter.
He had been pacing through his room the entire evening, not having eaten seeing he had simply forgotten. He was too busy staring at his clock, waiting until the time he was meeting Y/n for training. He pulled on his suit an hour early and made his way to the new avengers facility. There he found exactly what he could expect, an empty roof. 'She was usually early, but maybe not this early.' he told himself. He already knew, but how was he supposed to convince himself that Tony had lied and that she was actually hurt. How was he supposed to admit to himself that he let her get hurt. So the pacing started once again, this time on the roof where they would meet. Pacing on the roof until Nat found him there.
"She's not here Peter. You should go home." He turned toward her benevolent gaze, a light smile on her lips that he hadn't seen on her before. "She's not okay, is she?" He averted his eyes to the floor. Her silence answered his question. "Can I go see her?" Was his last question. But he already knew the answer that she would give him. "No, I'm sorry."
Tony had been very clear to him that he wasn't allowed to know who she was, and she couldn't know who he was. That much was simple. But what if he figured it out himself, would he be allowed to go see if she's alright?
