The day after, in the early morning, she woke to a nurse entering her room. She hadn't been sleeping very deeply during her few nights in the hospital, so the silent klick of her thick one inch heels already woke her up. The painkillers she was given made her groggy and she could barely keep her eyes open, yet the slightest sound alerted her awake.

"Good morning." Y/N sighed at the sight she had of the nurse through her barely opened lids. Her eyes only allowed for her to see the ice blue of her scrubs as she gave op even trying to open them. The nurse didn't answer, merely making her way to her IV to switch out the bag.

"Sleep, it's still early." The nurse finally spoke, running her palm over Y/N's forehead as if to brush the hair from her face. Y/N nodded, her head draping back to the side and she immediately fell back to sleep.

-

"Tony!" Pepper called after him, her white heels rapidly clicking against the floor tiles in a futile attempt to keep up with him. "It's 6:49 in the morning, she won't even be awake yet."

Tony abruptly stopped in his track allowing her to catch up as he faced her. "Something is wrong, Pepper. They were supposed to report back 20 minutes ago. They have done so every 30 minutes. What's changed?! I intend to find out." his appearance was unkept, as if he hadn't slept in the past days, light stubble forming across his jaw. She scanned his eyes carefully, trying to read him. His gaze was dull, filled with anger, frustration and sorrow. She had seen him go through a lot worse yet this unfortunate event is what got to him the most. Pepper sighed, giving up her pleas in understanding. "Oh, Tony. Let's go." She said with a nod, urging him back in the direction he was previously going.

Tony had hoped he was mistaken, that they had simply forgotten to send him the signal that they sent every half hour to show that everything was safe and quiet. Yet the body's splayed across they floor proved that his concern had been justified. He rushed open the door. The light wood creating a heavy sound as it smacked into the wall. "Y/N!" He all but yelled out at the sight of her still body under the white sheets. He hurried over to her side, loudly repeating her name as he tried to shake her awake by the shoulders.

"What?" She pinched her eyes in annoyance as she tried to get out his grip. "I'm tired, let me sleep." She groaned at her rude awakening.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt? Did someone come in?" Tony pressed on. If someone did come in she might not even have noticed or remembered.

"Just the nurse." She mumbled, turning in her bed. " 'n Spidey."
His eyes shot to Pepper, having heard her mumbles loud and clear. Y/N didn't complain as they made their way back out the room, Tony calling more guards to settle the situation at her room.

"Tony, You don't seriously think Peter could have done anything like that." Pepper tried to reason with him. "We'll find out soon enough." Tony was determined to find out what was going on, so as soon as he got back to the New Avengers facility he got Happy to go get Peter. He had to wait for a while, the passing of time gave him the opportunity to calm his initial rage, but it didn't calm his anger. Pepper stayed with him the entire time knowing this.

"Peter." He said coldly as soon as the boy appeared. Peter looked nervous, trying to find a position to put his hands in as he stood in front of Tony, who had not yet spared him a propper glance. "You wanted to see me Mr Stark?" He asked

"Did you go see Y/N?" Tony Got straight to the point, straightening out his back as he pushed the chair under his desk. His voice was calm, unlike his current demeanor. It almost sounded odd to hear coming from his mouth.

"What?" Peter muttered, eyes widened as he had been convinced no one had seen him. 'Did Y/N tell him?' he wondered.

This time Tony's voice raised as he became more and more impatient. "Did YOU, or did you not, beat up two guards to get to my daughter?!" It took all of Pepper's willpower not to step in.

Peter stumbled backwards for a moment, eyes still wide before regaining his composure. His answer rolled of his lips before he could even think about it. "No! I went through the window." Both Tony and Peter himself looked shocked at his answer. Pepper merely trying not to smile, holding her hand up in front of her mouth as to hide it. Tony's lips pressed together in a fine line as his hand raised in a sarcastic matter of fact manner. "He went through the window." He said with a chuckle. He grabbed the chair with both hands, the leather wrinkling under the pressure. "Went, through, the window." He repeated again as Peter stayed silent, honestly not daring to make a sound.  "Hokay, I'll deal with that later." He said, harshly releasing his grip. "You're dismissed kid."

Peter nodded, not wanting to stay in that room any longer, but he got stopped before he could reach the door handle. "And Peter." Tony had said. He patiently waited for him to finish his sentence. "Keep an eye on her next week at school."

Peter released a breath he had been holding and nodded. "Yes, Yes sir, Mr Stark." With that he left the room as it fell silent again. "You're full of surprises, you know that. I was convinced you were going to tell him to not go near her again." Pepper spoke as soon as the door closed. A smile plastered on her face.

"Watch out or I'll call him back in here" He responded to which she quickly raised her hands. "Oh, no, no. That's okay."

This only left one possibility however. Someone had broken into Y/N's room with possibly distressing intentions. Tony would go on to get the security footage from the hospital and called the avengers to meet, all apart from Natasha who he had sent with Happy to got Y/N.

"Anything on Hydra?" Tony questioned, trying to think of who would fight their way into a young girl's room to then leave her without a scratch. "Nothing since Zemo." Steve retorted.

"Aldrich Killian? Anyone that wants to get to us?" His questions were left unanswered as the room fell silent.

"Killian is dead, Tony." Rhodey finally spoke "I don't think this has anything to do with anyone we know of." They all knew it, but then where were they supposed to start looking. The security footage had come up blank and the guards, that had survived the attack, didn't even recollect being attacked in the first place.

"I'll check on her, see if she remembers anything, run some tests to check if she's alright. We'll start from there." Bruce said, getting Tony's approval with a nod.

The day Y/N had hoped to be away from the needles and testing, it all started over again.
