Nathan's POV

A Day Earlier—

"Oh, woah, woah, oh, hey! He's getting away!" A cultist cried out as I swiftly made my way deeper in the woods; two bullets whizzed by my ear and another grazed my combat boot.

A few dogs started barking. "Oh shit." I whispered to myself as I darted past the trees. "Thanks for helping me escape, Burke, you selfish prick." I scoffed and continued running as fast as I could, which was incredibly quicker than the average person. A couple more rounds barely missed me as I got further and further away from the cultists.

"The Father protects us! Who protects you?" A cultist shouted.

"Over there. Grab him!" Another cultist yelled.

"Purge the sinners!" A different follower screamed.

After a few minutes of running, I came upon a small house. I seen a cultist guarding it. Quickly, I hid in the tall grass. Luck must've been on my side because I found a shovel on the ground nearby. From here, I could tell he was on a walkie talkie talking to someone. Once his back was turned, I quietly snuck closer and swung the shovel and it knocked the cultist out cold, probably killing him. I looted his body and found a 1911 and some other things I may need. I was thankful for the 1911 since I lost all my weapons in the crash. Briskly, I looted the tiny home and stuffed a couple items in my pockets and went on my way to find the Marshal.

Once Cameron let me know that he was in the trailer next to the long bridge, I made my way to his location. A couple minutes went by and I could see the trailer the Marshal was supposed to be in. There were no Peggies surrounding the trailer, so, I made my way to the front door; as soon as I opened it, Burke tried to strangle me. He must've thought I was one of the Father's followers.

"Burke! It's me! It's Rook! Deputy Nathan Waldron!" I yelled as I grabbed Cameron's wrists to prevent him from killing me and pushed him off of me.

Burke sighed in relief, "Jesus Christ... Rook. I'm sorry... I thought they got you. Come on... Come on. C'mon! Check the room, Rook." He ushered me to check the next room. Then, we checked all the rooms in the trailer; thankfully, there were no Peggies. "Oh Jesus! I had no idea! Fuck! We're putting this whole family away. All of 'em. Fucking lunatics!" Cameron pointed at a picture of the Seed siblings on the wall; he grabbed the frame and threw it on the table.

"Yeah. They're fucking nuts..." I agreed with the Marshal as I looked intently at the cracked picture frame with the Seeds in it; I shook my head in disappointment. I stared at Faith the longest; that bitch... She's manipulating Alice.

"We're going to get out of this, Rookie. First thing's first, gotta arm ourselves... Here." Burke picked up an AR-C and handed it to me while he took the Smith and Wesson. "Alright, here's what we're gonna do. There's a road out there. We're gonna take it, we're gonna head northeast. It's probably only a few hours back to Missoula." Then, Cameron placed his hands on my shoulders and whispered, "And then we're gonna come back here with the goddamn National Guard and we're gonna take out the rest of these—" He got interrupted by voices outside.

"Came around this way! Check inside the trailers!" A Peggie shouted outside.

"Okay.... shhhhh." The Marshal nodded his head toward the window as we crouched down and took position.

"They're in there!" One of Joseph's followers yelled as they threw a brick through the window we were at and broke the glass. "I saw something! Check it out!"
