I was examining the map that Nathan gave me very intently, trying to figure out where we were at and where the Wolf's Den supposedly was. "Jacob, do you know how to read maps? I'm extremely motherfuckin' lost." I gripped the edges of the map tighter in frustration and slammed the paper against Jacob's chest. "Here. I'm so done. I'm so done." I scowled before sitting down in the grass.

"I think I know exactly where we're located..." The soldier muttered, gazing at the map.

Quickly, I stood back up and bolted towards the eldest Seed brother and glared at the map. "Where are we?"

"If my calculations are correct, which I know they goddamn are because I'm always right, it says here that we are near the Lookout Tower. See, look up." He pointed his hand at the sky and the Lookout Tower could be spotted north of us. "And the Deputy marked a tiny red dot on the Wolf's Den right here." He explained and pointed at the small red dot on the 'Wolf's Den' that I didn't even see. It was barely noticeable.

"How do you know for sure that that's the Wolf's Den, Jacob?" I questioned incredulously, looking up at the soldier. "How could you be one hundred percent certain?"

"I just know." Jacob stated hastily and shoved the map in his army jacket pocket. "It's just southeast of here. We gotta get movin'. If you stop, I ain't stoppin'." He grunted before trudging straight ahead, not caring if I was coming with him or not.

I sprinted as fast as I could to catch up with his long strides and then slowed down to a brisk walk when I made it beside of him. "So uh— do you really think Faith is at the Wolf's Den? Or do you think the Deputy was just fucking with us?"

"I don't know. There is one way to find out though." Jacob smirked as we made our way to the Wolf's Den. "I've been waitin' for this moment for a long damn time."

"Do you think we could take all the Whitetails there?" I asked, starting to become out of breath; I was so out of shape... "Shit, it's just the two of us."

"What's with all the goddamn questions?" Jacob snarled, still not breathing heavy. "Hell no. You know how many there are? I planned on calling in some of my Chosen and Judges when we get to the Lookout Tower."

He was literally a beast. How was he not out of breath?!

"I know what I'm doin'." Jacob added, his voice gruff.

"Okay, okay." I replied, my breathing getting more and more ragged.

After a few more miles of walking in the direction of the Lookout Tower, we were nearly there when suddenly, an engine roared very loudly from down the road.

"Get low! Get low! Hide!" Jacob ordered as he dragged me towards a nearby bush before we hid. "Get the fuck down!"

My heart was pounding as the vehicle came into view. I gulped at the sight of the car pulling off on the edge of the road in front of us [parked beside of the Lookout Tower]. The engine cut off as a two familiar faces hopped out of the vehicle.

It was Eli and Wheaty...

"I can't believe that shit!" Wheaty cried out, tugging at his hair and pacing. "What are we going to do?!"

Eli trudged over to Wheaty and placed his hands on his shoulders, in an attempt to console Wheaty. "Wheaty, the Deputy didn't die in vain... He did all he could. We have to win this war for him. You got that? Don't. Give. Up."

Wheaty nodded, on the verge of tears. "Yeah... Yeah... I gotta get the prepper." He jerked away from Eli and make his way into the tower to retrieve the stash.

Eli sighed, rubbing his hand through his beard in frustration. "I don't know how we're gonna goddamn win this war without Dep." He muttered to himself.

I spotted a rock near my feet and picked it up. I threw the rock behind Eli and he immediately became alerted.

"Hello? Show yourself!" Eli growled sternly as he pulled out his bow and dashed in the direction I threw the rock.

Since Eli was distracted and Wheaty was in the tower, this was Jacob and I's chance to make a break for Eli's car and hide in the back.

"Alice, what the fuck are you doin'?" Jacob whisper-shouted as I ushered him to get in the trunk of the car.

"This is a quicker way to get to the Wolf's Den unless you have a better goddamn idea. Get in the trunk, now. And while you're in the trunk, call for reinforcements. They won't know what hit 'em. It'll be unexpected." I quickly explained as I jumped in the backseat and quietly shut the door.

Jacob murmured a "I hope you're right." And silently got in the trunk.

Luck was on my side because there was a blanket in the backseat. So, I placed it over me; it would decrease my chance of getting caught. I kept my hand on my holstered pistol to try and comfort myself.

A few minutes later, Eli and Wheaty got in the car as the engine roared to life.

I hope this plan would fuckin' work...
