—Eleven Long Months Later—

"I don't even know why you're even trying, Alice! Just let it go! Faith is gone, goddamnit!" The oldest Seed brother screamed in my face, while dark circles laid under his eyes prominently, a now vivid color of purple over a year of searching for Faith. "The search for her is fucking over, Alice. OVER! It's been over for a long, long time... You know she's dead. Hell, she's been dead. Just face it!"

I shook my head 'no' as tears welled up in my eyes. "You don't fucking know that, Jacob!" I shouted, glaring up at him. "I'm never going to quit looking for her!"

"Well, you're gonna be disappointed is all I can say to ya." Jacob grunted, folding his arms over his burly chest. "She is damn dead. All there is to it." He shrugged nonchalantly. "It has been a year, Alice! Nearly a whole goddamn year! We haven't been able to find her body and we never will. You fuckin' know it... You fuckin' know it, but you don't want to admit it to yourself."

"I am not going to stop searching for her until I find her! Alive or dead!" I yelled, my voice growing hoarse from all of this arguing I have done with the eldest Seed sibling. "You can't stop me, Jacob Seed! And you won't! I'm goddamn determined to find her motherfuckin' body, one way or another!" I screamed before turning around, and marching towards the exit of his office in the Veteran's Center.

"You're not going out there alone." Jacob growled, gripping my wrist, making me stop dead in my tracks.

"If you're not going out there to help me search for Faith, then, why do you care?" I questioned incredulously. "I'm nothing to you. You don't care if I get killed."

"I still don't want you out there all on your own. It's dangerous." He stated sternly. "She's dead. Let her rest in peace, Alice... It's what she'd want. Faith wouldn't want you to do this... You know she wouldn't want you to keep trying to search for her when you know deep in your heart she's gone. She's. Dead."

"Let me go goddamnit." I struggled, then was able to jerk my wrist out of his strong grip [because he let me go] and glared up at the soldier. "You can't tell me what to do."

"Just know Faith didn't die in vain, Alice... You're going to be disappointed if you find her dead and don't say I didn't tell you so."

With that, I marched out of Jacob's office and headed out of the Veteran's Center, on my quest to find Faith... Faith is what kept me going; my Faith.

Thirty minutes passed by as I ventured out on my own in the Whitetail Mountains. The air was becoming incredibly chilly so I pulled my jacket closer together in an attempt to warm myself up a little bit. The tip of my nose was getting extremely cold, as well as my cheeks. I kept my hand on my pistol in my coat pocket just in case I spotted any of the fucking Whitetails. Because of the goddamn Deputy, more and more people were beginning to join the militia to fight back against Jacob. They were becoming stronger, but I don't think they could take Jacob over... yet... Then, my mind wandered to Faith... How could I let the fucking Deputy take her?! Fuck! This was all my fault... All my fault... I stopped and stood in place for a moment, collecting my thoughts. A lone tear cascaded down my left cheeks and I swiftly wiped it away. A twig breaking resulted in me pulling out my firearm in the direction of the noise. "Who the hell is it?!" I hollered out as my heart started to pump faster. "Show yourself and put your hands in the fuckin' air!" Another stick that broke behind me forced me to turn around in that direction as my gun was pointed in the air. "Stop playing games!"

All of a sudden, a deer darted from behind a tree and scurried off. Immediately, I let out a sigh of relief, but that soon changed to fright, while a strong arm wrapped around my neck and cut off my airways...
