the new medicine was kicking calums butt.

it took a couple days to fully get his body use to it, but it still threw him around with his moods. calum would be fine one minute, and the next he would be having a breakdown. fortunately for calum, he had the most understanding and loveable caregiver in the world.

ashton was right by his side, no matter what his mood was, and was always taking care of him. calum felt bad, because there were some points where he knew he was just...awful. yet, he couldn't help it and ashton still stayed by his side.

so, calum wanted to do something for ashton, just to show the boy how much he appreciated him, and loved him. also, with doing something for his lover, he was also taking another step and going out himself (well, with michael to drive him) to get everything.

calum was so, so excited to come home later and show ashton everything!

"babe! michaels here!"

when calum first told ashton he was hanging out with michael again, it sort of surprised ashton since he didn't have to push him at all. but, he was still proud of his boy for improving a lot in that way.

"im coming!" calum yells, running down the stairs. ashtons at the door, holding it open, waiting for calum to go.

"i'll see you tonight," calum says with a quick peck to ashtons lips, "i love you."

"i love you too," ashton says, "behave."

"when do i ever?" calum responds with a giggle, then runs outside to michaels car, not waiting for one of ashtons sarcastic remarks.

"you're in a good mood," michael says, waiting for calum to fasten his seat belt. once he does, he's backing out of the driveway.

"im just happy we get to hang out, and you're helping me pick out gifts for ashton. im just so happy to have you guys in my life, i love you both so much."

michael has to look at calum for a couple seconds, just to make sure he heard calum correctly. of course, he loved calum too but all of those words from calum at once just surprised him.

"im glad to have you as a friend," michael says, "now, what surprise do you have in mind?"

"can we go into the city?" calum asks, "oh, also, can we get lunch while we're out? i can pay."

"of course we're gonna get food, and of course your gonna pay. i thought that was already decided?" michael asks with a smile, turning his head to look at calum who was also smiling.

"you're an ass."

ashton was sat at the table, glasses perched on his nose as he makes out some checks, and goes through the bills. it was quiet, it was peaceful, and then his phone rang. so, he sets his glasses down on the table, and then answers his phone.

it was calum, of course, and it makes ashton smile. he honestly figured calum would call a couple times since he seemed...really hyper and happy. ashton wasnt gonna complain. it was nice for calum to call (it also helps calm ashton down since he knows calum is safe).

"hey baby," ashton says with a smile, holding the phone between his ear and his shoulder.

"hi ashy! i have a question."

"okay, what is it?"

"mikey and i are stopping by the grocery store, and i remember you saying you needed some more fruit?"

ashton giggles, "well, since you offered, we do need some more bananas for when you have your mashed up bananas. you could also get some more apples. also, since you're stopping, get some more snacks for when your little and anything else you want. you have my bank card, yeah?"

"yeah, i do," calum says, "so, just so we're clear, you said i could get whatever i want?"

ashton bites his lip, and sighs, "yes, just don't go overboard."

"okay, thank you ashy i love you!" calum says, and after ashton says his love you back calum ends the call.

ashton just shakes his head, and gets back to work.

"you think he'll like this?" calum asks, holding up the bouquet of flowers. so far, calum got ashton some candies, a new hoodie, more candles, and a couple new books. yet, it didn't feel like enough. calum felt like he owed ashton so much more than that (even if, in the back of his mind, he knew ashton would disagree).

"ashton will love anything you get him," michael says, then leans in, "if you really want to make his night and say thank you for everything, lets head somewhere else and get a new outfit for you. ashton will definitely love that."

"new outfit?"
