once they got calum settled into michaels guest room...there was no leaving the bed. the poor boy just laid under the covers, and cried until he slept...when he woke up, he'd cry until he fell back asleep again.

it was an awful cycle.

michael, well, he wasn't going to let calum sulk in his own sadness. he did for the first day, since he knew it was hard for him...it would be hard for anyone to leave their soul mate. michael knew how much calum depended on ashton, so he was also curious to see how calum would act around him.

"hey, callie?" michael asks, knocking on the door, "are you up?"

"no."

michael frowns at the lump in the middle of his bed, "well, i made breakfast. i figured we could eat and then maybe bake some cookies or brownies or something, yeah? we could eat unhealthy snacks all day and watch movies."

"'m not hungry, mikey," calum says, his sad voice echoing into michaels ears, almost like a sad melody starting to play. michael sighs. it was awful, seeing his best friend so depressed.

"okay...how about we eat ice cream for breakfast? i can put the office on while we eat and cuddle?"

calum sticks his head out, "can we eat the ice cream from the container?"

"of course, callie bear."

calum smiles, for a couple seconds, and then slowly gets out of his bed. his hair was a mess, his eyes were a glossy red, and there were dark bags under his eyes. the poor bou truly looked awful.

"come on, bear," michael says softly, holding his hand out to calum. something flashes in calums eyes, and it has michael looking at calum confused. then, calums bottom lip trembles.

"wa-want daddy," calum chokes out, covering his face with his hands. michael frowns sadly - this was one thing michael had feared happening.

"hey, don't cry bear," michael says, as comforting as he can, "you'll see your daddy again, yeah? but you're with awesome uncle mikey right now! so how about we go get some ice cream, cuddle, and watch the office, hmm? that's your favorite show, isn't it?"

calum nods, "y-yeah, mikey."

"theres my happy little callie bear. come on, lets go!" michael says happily, grabbing one of calums hand. the little sniffs, and looks up to michael with a shy smile. calum follows michael to the kitchen, where he picks out chunky monkey ice cream. michael hands calum the container with a spoon, and then grabs his own container of chocolate ice cream and spoon.

they head into michaels family room, where michael turns the office on, and then sits down next to calum. the little immediately curls against michaels side - and it wasn't like they never cuddled before. they've known each other since they were in diapers, basically. calum was always the cuddly one, and they had spent many nights cuddling in the same bed.

this felt different, though.

like, michael wanted calum to have anything that he needed, and if that was unlimited cuddles, then that's what michael would give him. so, michael wraps his arm around calums shoulders that way he could still have his hand with his spoon.

calum relaxes after that, and starts to shove mouthfuls of ice cream in his mouth.

it gives michael a little hope. sure, ice cream for breakfast wasnt ideal, but for someone with a broken heart...

they eat comfortably while the office plays. that's the extent of what they do.

_

"what, ashton?" michael hisses quitely, keeping his voice low that way calum wouldn't hear him. they were still curled up on the couch, and they were still watching the office. the only time they got up was to use the bathroom, and stretch.

"how...how is he doing, mikey?"

"i don't know, ashton," michael sasses, "he's doing as best as he can with a broken heart."

"mikey, please, i just..."

michael sighs, "he ate ice cream for breakfast, and i got him to eat a sandwich for lunch. thats all i've got him to eat today. otherwise, we've cuddled on the couch while the office has played all day."

the line is silent, making michael roll his eyes, "you still there?"

"yeah..." ashton trails off, "just, please let me know if he gets worse."

"will do, now goodbye," michael says, ending the call. he shoves his phone in his pocket and goes back out to calum, who was still engrossed in his show.

"hey callie,"

"hey mikey," calum mumbles, climbing back on michaels chest once michael had laid down, "missed you."

"missed you too," michael says, starting to run his hand through calums hair, "what did i miss?"

calums eyes light up, and he starts to explain everything that michael had missed. it made michael feel happy. even though it was just a tv show, it was calums favorite. and, if a stupid tv show would help distract calum from ashton, then why not watch it with him all day long.

besides, michael wouldn't do that for just anybody.
