little calum didnt understand why his daddy was just...he just wasn't acting right.
it had been three days since the incident where ashton spanked him, and then didn't give him aftercare. of course, there was tension between the two, but it seemed to die off more and more everyday. there was still something though - his daddy would forget to give him a goodnight kiss, or he'd forget to help the little get dressed.
it was small things, but calum noticed. and it was starting to hurt him a bit. how his daddy could forget some of those things, it was crazy to the little. so, he thought by coloring his daddy a picture of the two, it might bring a part of his daddy back.
"hey, daddy?" calum asks softly, knocking a couple times on the open door. ashton doesnt look up from his laptop, nor does he say anything. all calum gets is a grunt in response and calum didnt know why but it made his anxiety spike through the roof.
"i-i make 'ou pic'ure," calum says, and slowly walks up to ashtons desk. the little sets the paper down, and then takes a couple steps back. ashton continues to type for thirty more seconds before he turns his head, and looks at the picture.
"its a nice picture," ashton says, and then goes back to typing on his laptop. calums bottom lip trembles, and he just makes his way out of the room. maybe his daddy didn't want him anymore.
no, that couldn't be it.
the little knew their bond was stronger than that. he knew that his daddy was just working.
yeah, just working.
calum keeps repeating that phrase in his head until he falls asleep on the couch, still repeating that same phrase.
_
"calum, wake up."
"hmm?" calum groans, slowly blinking his eyes a couple times, trying to wake himself up. at first, he felt how stiff his neck was, and how there was barely any light.
"calum, baby, wake up for daddy."
calum looks up at ashton, and after a couple seconds his eyes start to adjust, and he can see ashton. ashton, who looks worridly down at calum.
"daddy?"
"hey, sweetheart," ashton says softly, gently pushing some of his loose curls away from hus forehead, "you fell asleep on the couch, silly."
"oh?"
"yeah, oh," ashton giggles, and gently picks calum up, "are you hungry? did you need to potty or did you use your diaper?"
"'m sweepy, daddy."
"well i know that," ashton says, and starts to carry calum into the kitchen, "but you skipped out on lunch, and didn't have any snacks. so you must be hungry."
calum didn't realize how hungry he actually was since he was so worried about ashton. food wasn't even close to being on his mind. now, though, since ashton was bringing it up, he was a little hungry.
plus, his daddy seemed better. so, it must be okay (thats what calum kept telling himself. his daddy was okay, his daddy was completely okay).
"yeah, 'm hungwy, daddy."
"alright, well daddy has to make dinner, so will your tummy be okay til then?"
calum nods, and smiles softly at his daddy.
"what did you want for dinner?"
"no 'are, daddy."
"you don't care?" ashton asks, and then sets calum down on the changine table. the little shakes his head, and smiles softly up at ashton.
there was something in ashtons eyes that calum saw - the little couldn't figure out what it was. it wasnt sadness or anger; it wasn't love or happiness either.
the little doesn't get to linger on it for long, because ashton starts to change him. that doesn't mean that it left his head, though. something just wasn't adding up, and the little knew he was gonna have to figure out what was going on before it kicked him down.
