BEVERLYS POV
The week dragged on because school became the last place I wanted to be. Wake up, go to school, be miserable, do homework, repeat. After the longest week of hell it was finally Friday, thank goodness. But the weekend probably wouldn't be much better considering I'd be at home because I had no one to hangout with. I could probably hangout with the gang but I wasn't up for it. On Friday night I was sitting in my room, reading, when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in," I responded. When the door opened it revealed my two younger brothers looking giddy per usual.
"Hey Bev," Soda said emphasizing his words as he spoke, sounding like a child.
"Hi Pony. Hi Soda," was all I said to them but in my head I was questioning why they were here in the first place.
"Pony and I are taking you into town tonight. We can go to the shops and get ice cream after, get ready and we'll walk."
"Don't you guys have anything better to do?" I smiled so they knew I was joking.
"Nothing in the world is better than hanging out with our sister. Now hurry up," Pony responded.
"Okay okay, I'll be ready in five minutes." They left my room and I closed my book and began to get ready. I put on black pants that were tight at the top but went loose at the bottom, matched with a red sweater. I clipped back the pieces of hair in my face but left the rest of my hair down. I wore red converse which went nicely with my red sweater and I was ready to go.
As Pony, Soda, and I walked we were joking and rambling like always until all of the sudden Soda got serious.
"You know Bev, Tim isn't gonna get away with screwing up your life like this. The gang knows what he did and we're all mad, he's gonna get a beat down that's for sure."
"I know, it's just that, well, don't hurt him too bad. Messing with him isn't gonna fix all the things he's already ruined for me," I sighed.
"You don't deserve this. You're probably the least deserving person of this."
"Oh come on Soda cheer up! If I'm gonna enjoy myself you are too," I said trying to sound more peppy.
"You're right," Soda smiled. Then he took off running, "Race ya there," he called to me and Pony. Next thing I know Pony and I are running fast as we can and Pony's about five feet ahead of Soda. I told you he can run real good.
By the time we got to the shops we were all out of breath. I got a new dress that was really nice, too nice for any occasion I'd be going to. But I got it anyway. Pony got a switch blade because for some reason "he needed two." So odd. And Soda got some stuff for his hair, those boys and their hair. But we honestly didn't spend that much money, not that we could even if we wanted too, and we had fun. Before I knew it the sun was setting and I was starving.
For dinner we went to a diner and the gang met us there. Me, Pony, and Soda were already seated when they got there and Dally sat in the booth at the spot right next to me. He stretched his arms along the chair and Darry gave him a serious look like Dally had his arm around me, but he didn't it was on the booth. And why would Darry mind anyway it's not like Dally would hit on me.
"Hey guys," Two Bit said, addressing all of us at the table, "let's have a burping contest." The gang agreed with claps and nods.
"Uh no, let's not," any attention from the other people in the diner and I'd be mortified.
To that, they responded in a variance of belches. I put my head down trying to appear invisible.
"Bev come on don't be such a wimp," it was Dally. A wimp, really? I didn't want my brother's friends to think of me as a Debby Downer. So, with my face red as can be I joined in on their fun and laughed along with them. People gave us dirty looks, but who cares? Not me. I was enjoying myself with my new best friends and if people wanted to judge us then oh well I guess. Learning not to care what people thought became more of a useful skill this week first the shit I'm gonna get at school and now this.
We all left the diner around eight and walked home with the street lamps being our only source of light. I walked carrying a bag with the stuff me and my brothers purchased earlier. I suggested we go to the park and hangout since I didn't want the night to end just yet. The gang and I decided to play a game of hide and seek and we all picked partners. Johnny and Pony, Steve and Soda, obviously. Two Bit insisted on Darry being his partner because they were the perfect match, something he was rambling on about who knows. It was a good thing Dar went with him because he was buzzed. That left me and Dally. Oh great. Not that I didn't want Dal to be my partner but he just made me nervous. I didn't want to be alone with him more than I had to.
