DALLY'S POV

I got paired with Beverly Curtis. Lucky me lucky me. That may sound like sarcasm but part of me actually wanted to be paired with her. What's the harm in the pretty girl being my partner, well besides all of her brothers probably would kill me. Me and her walked off to find somewhere to hide out.

"Oh I know you were dying to be my partner," I said breaking the comfortable silence.

"Don't you know it Dallas Winston," she said sarcastically and smiled at me. I couldn't help but smile back.

"I wish I could say the same for myself."

She gasped like that was the last thing in the world she expected to hear, "I would get upset, but you and I both know that's a complete lie."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night babe," it slipped out. I didn't mean it, I call lots of girls that. She didn't think anything of it though because she started laughing a whole lot. But stopped to punch me in the arm jokingly. Then she grabbed my hand and pulled me behind a couple of bushes. I was filled with confusion.

"This is the perfect spot," she whispered. Oh right, we were playing hide and seek.

"Dallas," now we were face to face and she was looking into my eyes like she was examining me.

"Yeah Bev?" I'm not gonna lie, I thought we were going to kiss for a moment. I was gonna make a move but then she spoke again.

"I don't know if I've thanked you for everything," then she turned her head away from me breaking the tension. "The other day, I really needed someone there for me and you were. Thank you."

"It's my pleasure," I smirked. A gust of wind blew past us and she shivered. I wrapped my arm and leather jacket around her. I can't believe I was going to kiss her I think that would of been so incredibly stupid. She's so fragile right now I can't imagine what she's going through. And usually I wouldn't care but she was different to me, she had depth to her, a personality and she was smart. Not really like any of the broads I usually get with. Before either of us could say another word I heard footsteps approaching and Bev held her finger up to my lips keeping me quiet.

BEVERLY'S POV

"Gotcha!" I heard Two Bit yell causing me to jump a little. He grabbed my hand and pulled me up from my spot on the ground. "Sorry to interrupt your love fest," Two Bit snickered but Dar punched him in the arm.

"Ouchie," he spoke trying to sound upset.

"You're an idiot," I said to him, and then took off. "Catch me if you can," I teased and sounded like such a child but I didn't want to hear what Darry had to say about me and Dally or me wearing his jacket. Then I heard all three of them chase after me. Darry was definitely the fastest and he tackled me to the ground.

"Shit Darry, my arm," I whined. He jumped up immediately.

"Oh no Bev, you okay?" he said sounding real concerned.

"Yup, tricked ya," I laughed and started running again. This time he didn't bother chasing me. I got out of breath and sat on a bench stumbling upon Johnny and Pony. They came out of their hiding spot and sat on the bench with me.

"Let's go," I told them and stood up. I locked arms with Johnny on my right snd Pony on my left and we began to walk home. "Don't worry about the rest of them they'll catch up with us any minute."

"Is that.." I heard Johnny began to ask but I already knew what he was gonna say.

"Yes Johnny," I cut him off. He laughed but Pony looked confused.

"Is there something going on with you guys," he was smiling so at least I know he wasn't mad. That was a good question.

"No no, I was just cold. And as you know Dally is quite the gentleman," I said sarcastically and they both laughed. When we got back I made both of them hot chocolate and we watched a movie. A few minutes later the rest of the gang came in and sat down to watch the TV with us. After awhile I started to get tired so I decided to go to my room. Almost all of the gang was passed out on the floor or on a chair. Darry was sleeping in his bed because again, he had work. It was pretty cold in that room so I placed blankets on all of them and then I realized Dally was still awake.

"Are you always the last one up," I asked him.

He let out a small laugh, "Yeah usually I am."

"Why, don't you ever get tired?" I was probably annoying him but I was really tired and just didn't care what I was saying.

"I guess not, I just stay up and think some nights."

"Who knew that thing had thoughts," I joked tapping on his head and ruffling his hair.

He then pulled me in tight, our bodies barely touching.

"Good night Beverly Curtis," he whispered in my ear. My heart began to race and I felt my face burn up.

"Good night Dallas Winston," I said trying to sound cool but on the inside I was totally freaking out. What was that about. Was he just trying mess with my head. Yes of course he was, that's what he did. Now that I thought about it I'd never seen Dally with the same girl twice. Not that I saw him a lot until recently but he still had always hung around our house a lot and it seemed he's never really gone steady with anyone.

Actually, the only one out of the whole gang that I knew of going steady with a girl was Soda. It was easy for Soda. He was real handsome, we all knew that. In my opinion the whole gang was good looking, but Soda has a charm about him. He pretty much attracted girls like a magnet. Pony talked to girls and stuff but one time he was talking to a soc girl, and I thought he really liked her. But a soc and a greaser together was not gonna end anyway other than a brawl. I felt real bad for Pony but he'd never let anyone feel bad for him. And as for Dally, well he's had some girls around but recently I guess he's too busy taking care of us and working to focus on a relationship. No one could blame him for that though.

After Dally and I exchanged our good nights I sped off to my room and opened my window for some much needed fresh air. The breeze felt nice and I snuggled under my covers passing out almost immediately.
