DALLY'S POV
I woke up the next morning with one of the worst pains I ever felt in my life in my thigh. I only wanted to sleep but there was no way in hell I was falling back asleep with all the ruckus coming from the kitchen. But I noticed it was only two peoples voices going back and forth. Sounded like Darry, and Bev. And Dar did not sound too happy. What could she of done now?
BEVERLY'S POV
It was 7 in the morning when Pony woke me up by rapidly shaking my body all around. I opened my eyes to see a nervous look on his face.
"Mornin' Bev, you might wanna wake up now to prepare yourself for Dar. He seemed pretty upset last night when you came through that door from hell knows where," he warned me.
I sighed. "Great." I got up quickly and was ready for school by the time Darry exited his bedroom. It seemed he had the same idea as me because he was dressed for work also. I sat at the table and waited for him, thinking of what I would tell him. He can usually tell when I lie even though I'd consider myself a good liar. So I'll just tell him the truth and hope for some pity points. It's not like I was the one out there throwing punches at socs. He entered the kitchen and I was reminded of how hard to read Darry is. I had no clue what he was feeling. We only exchanged good mornings and he sat down across from me without wasting anytime.
"I think you already know what I'm gonna ask," he was right, "so what were you doing out last night that you come through the door dressed like a burglar and covered in mud and rain." There was no lying to him, night as well get this done and over with.
"I followed you guys to the fight. I just wanted to watch and make sure you guys were okay. And I know, it was dangerous and I could have got hurt but to me making sure you guys were okay is more important. I couldn't stay home and be a nervous wreck." He was nodding his head like he almost agreed with me. "I'm sorry please don't be mad," I believed this apology was unnecessary but maybe it would get Darry off my back.
"You're old enough to make your own decisions and take care of yourself now. I just wanted to know where you were. What's going on with Dal?" I was filled with relief as he changed the subject.
"I think he's feeling a little bit better and he only woke up once last night." He laughed at that and I gave him a confused look, "What?"
"I don't mean how is his leg, I meant between to two. Don't think I haven't noticed you flirting, even yesterday when you were fixing him up."
"Uh- Look at the time! I'll be late for school if I don't leave right now!" I exclaimed, putting that conversation with Darry on hold for now. And with that, I ran out the back door and was on my way to school.
It was only Tuesday but it felt like I'd been at school for a week already. This was going to be the longest week ever. As I walked the halls, the dirty looks from old friends, and some guys who I knew were friends with Tim, enraged me. I had to get back at Tim but I wasn't sure how. By the end of the longest day, I figured out a plan that I could execute on my own. I was gonna keep it to myself, and Dally, because I didn't want the whole gang getting involved. I left school as soon as the last bell rang and met up with Johnny and Pony in the schoolyard. On the walk there I told them everything about me and Dally, how we felt the same way for each other and all, except I left out the kiss part. I was literally seventeen and I kissed plenty of guys before, but I didn't know how Pony would react. We went to the DX and met up with Soda and Steve. As we approached I noticed a ton of girls hanging around them, probably for Soda. There was never a time I went to the DX and girls weren't flirting with Soda. Some of the girls gave me dirty looks because they thought I was another girl competing for Soda's attention, even though I looked at least three years older than them, despite being only one or two. My features and figure were more defined than most, and that's not me saying that, usually boys at school making the dirty remarks that they do.
"Hey, how's my favorite second-oldest brother?" I joked with him and made sure to say he was my brother, so the other girls would lay off. He just flashed me a smile and laughed.
"Just peachy. How was school? And Dar.." he added on.
"School was miserable as always and Darry was surprisingly calm." I made some small talk with them for a little while longer and decided to leaves "I'm gonna head home and get done some work so I can start cooking dinner before you get home. I'll see you guys later." I jogged the rest of my way home, partly because I didn't wanna get jumped and partly because I was eager to see Dally.
