- Heidi's POV -
My eyes opened to an unfamiliar beeping sound and an empty room. The only thing in this room was a bed and a huge machine which I had no idea what it was for, but it was attached to my hand.
I rubbed my eyes slowly and tried to sit up before getting a striking pain in my right hip which forced me to lie down again. I pulled up the night gown I was in to see a huge cut starting from my inner right leg and going to the other side where my hip began. I cried silently in confusion and pain.
Suddenly the white door at the other side of the room opened and a woman in a white cloak appeared, she was holding a clip board.
"Heidi! You're awake" She said with a smile as she walked into the room, I stared at her weirdly.
"I don't know you" I whispered, she nodded.
"Thats because I'm a doctor, you're at the hospital? Do you remember anything that happened yesterday afternoon?" She asked while pulling a pen from her pocket, I glanced away from her and thought. What happened?
Then after a moment of thinking it all came back. I was sad, really sad in fact, and I wanted to leave..
"Y-yes" I said looking back up at her, the tears were forming in my eyes once again.
"You're in a special ward Heidi, nobody knows you are here but your father. Your mother has been contacted also" She said while writing something down. If they know I'm here then why aren't they here with me? Are they even worried? Am I even on their mind?
"How did I wake up" I said loudly after a moment of silence, the woman looked up at me with a smile.
"It is actually very surprising, but you were caught by a mermaid?" The woman said. My eyes widened and I thought of Winter. She saved my life?
"But how do you know that? Did the fishermen catch her?" I asked while my heart pounded in my chest but the woman shook her head.
"There was two of them but they were not caught sadly"
I sighed in relief, I really do love Winter. How did she know I was in trouble again?
Suddenly my dad burst through the door with a smile on his face, the woman jumped slightly and stared at him.
"You must be Heidi's father?" She asked, he nodded quickly and pushed passed her.
"Thank god you done that Heidi! With your little stunt we now know that two more mermaids are swimming around the beach! We'll have them caught in no time!" He shouted happily, the doctor woman looked disgusted.
"Sir, are you serious right now?" She said angrily. He looked at her with a straight face.
"Your daughter has just attempted suicide and you care about some mythical creatures more than her?" She shouted. He looked quite shocked as she shouted in his face, I looked down quickly pretending not to hear anything that was being said. When clearly the whole hospital could hear.
- Winter's POV -
"So you know this human?" Maria asked as we sat at the edge of the reef, I was in complete shock at what Heidi had tried to do. I was so upset and hurt that I could have lost her, but I thought it was time to tell Maria the truth.
"She is my best friend and I love her" I said quickly, Maria gasped at me.
"Winter! You know the rules about humans, we aren't suppose to go near them never mind be their friend! Are you crazy!" She shouted at me, I rolled my eyes
"But you don't understand. She is the only nice human there is, I love her so much. Everytime I felt bad about myself or I was having trouble with my sisters and father she would be there to talk to me and I would do the same for her. She wasn't surprised or shocked to see a mermaid sitting beside her almost everyday, I think I'm her only friend. She isn't appreciated as much as she should be because she is such an amazing person who deserves the world, but right now the whole world is against her. Except for me. Her father is the fisherman who captured Summer and Heidi has been going to the park where Summer is to check up on her for me.. Not all humans are bad Maria" I ranted without stopping. Maria was getting upset and I had no idea why.
"I wish I had a friendship like that" She said with a smile.
"So, are you going to tell anybody about this?.." I asked anxiously. Maria nodded quickly.
"I have to, I know she is your best friend but this is dangerous. Especially as her dad is the fisherman who is hunting for mermaids and mermen, I have to tell somebody! I'm sorry" Maria said before swimming off quickly.
"No Maria wait!" I shouted while swimming after her.
