"So the myths were true! Mermaids are definitely real!
Local fisherman Michael Jefferson was out fishing in his boat this morning when he caught something much bigger than a regular fish. Half girl half fish to be exact!
The mermaid has been took to the closest science lab for treatment and some tests, could there be more out in the ocean?

- Heidi's POV -
"Michael you're going to be famous!" Mum shouted as we stood on the beach watching millions of news teams and locals surrounding my dad.
"Are you not proud of him?! He caught something that doesn't even exist!" She jumped around excitedly while glancing down at me.
"Mum, they do exist" I said while rolling my eyes. The huge van which held the mermaid inside drove off the beach quickly and all the news reporters scattered. Dad ran over to us and hugged mum.
"I'm great! I'm wonderful!" He shouted in his usual cocky voice and devilish smile. Mum laughed and continued to hug him.
"Aren't you proud of me cupcake?" He asked looking down at me, I nodded slowly.
"Sure I am! Because catching an innocent fish woman and taking her from her home is something to be proud of" I said in the most sarcastic tone ever, he raised an eyebrow.
"You shouldn't care about what's out in that sea, you should care about your mum and me and how we feel. No one else" He shouted in my face, I wiped his spit off my face and stood back.
"I'm going home" I mumbled with my hands in my pockets.
"Don't worry Michael she's just had a bad day" Mum whispered to him as I walked off. Everything is so wrong right now.
I arrived back at the street in which my house was, but I wasn't home yet.
"Hey Heidi" Someone yelled from behind me, I stopped walking and turned around. Great, it was a girl from my school.
"I heard about your dad, does that mean you're going to be a rich and snobby kid in school now?" She said while approaching me, I shook my head.
"No? He hasn't got any money from it.." I mumbled.
"Are you sure about that?" She said getting closer, she looked angry.. But why? I kept stepping back as she walked towards me until I couldn't anymore.
"Empty your pockets then, rich girl" She said while laughing and grabbing onto my arm. I pushed her off.
"Hey don't push me!" She shouted while grabbing my shirt and digging her hands into my jacket pockets. She got a hold of my purse and pulled it out.
"Hey that's my purse give it back!!" I shouted as she jumped back and opened it.
"Oh look, you don't have a lot of money in here do you?.." She said with a smirk. She then pulled out a 20 pound note from my purse and stuffed it into her pocket.
"Thanks for the change idiot!" She screamed as she ran away in laughter.
