Chapter Three

- Winter's POV -

I woke up to a weeping of some sort. I looked around my bedroom and then realised it was coming from Autumn's bed.

"Autumn? Are you okay?" I whispered, her sniffing suddenly stopped. I swam over to her quietly and sat at the edge of her flowery bed.

"I just miss mummy so much.." She whispered while not making eye contact, I sighed sadly.

"I miss her too.."

It was the day of mothers death, Sunday the 3rd of August. It felt like there was a weight in my stomach at how heavy and sad I felt as soon as I woke up.

Autumn was extremely upset, but there was no sign of Summer. I swam into the main area of our cave to find Summer dancing around to the radio, singing and laughing happily.

"What are you doing?" I asked, Summer jumped as soon as I spoke.

"I didn't see you there! Come join me!" She shouted while she grabbed my fins and pulling me over to where she was dancing, I swam away while looking back at her weirdly.

Isn't this suppose to be our sad day? Why is she so happy? Summer is never as happy as this.. And on the saddest day of the year she is at her happiest?
Somethings not right.

I think father heard the loud music from his bedroom, as he swam out and stared over at Summer with a blank expression. She didn't know he was there.

"What is going on?" He said in a loud tone, then pointed his finger to the radio which made it turn off.

"I was dancing to that!" Summer shouted angrily, he raised an eyebrow at her.

- Summer's POV -

I was so excited, today was my date with the cute merman!

I've never been on a date before. That seems weird because I'm nineteen years old, but I have my reasons.

"Why are you so excitable today Summer?" Father said while showing no expression on his face, he does this a lot.

"I'm going on a date! With a merman!" I shouted happily while squeaking loudly in excitement. Father and Winter stared at me in shock.

I looked at them both confusingly.

"Aren't you happy for me?" I said quietly but at that moment, father slammed his fist on to the rock table. This caused the cave to shake.

"Daddy!" Autumn shouted, he swam over to me angrily.

"It's your mothers death day!!!" He screamed in my face, I moved back as far as I could.

"I think mum would be happy for me, she wouldn't want us to be crying in the cave all day" I huffed while raising an eyebrow.

"You aren't going anywhere!" He shouted again, I pushed him off me slightly. My sisters were standing shocked at the other side of the room.

"I am! I'm going right now!" I said like a child, he grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me back. I got loose and stared at him angrily.

"You are not going on that date. Understood?" Father said in a less angry tone, then he swam off into his bedroom. Winter and Autumn stared at me with their jaws wide open.

"I can't believe you Summer" Autumn said looking slightly upset, Winter didn't say anything.

"Fine. I'm leaving, I can't take this cave anymore!" I shouted while bursting through the door and swimming off.

- Winter's POV -

"Summer no!!" I shouted out the door as she swam off into the sea, oh no.

Father is going to kill her, why can't she ever play by the rules? I don't want her getting into trouble.

I swam out the door and followed Summer through the sea. She was swimming quite fast and it was hard to keep up, but where was she going?

After a few minutes she stopped swimming and sat down on the edge of the deep sea, I held my breath behind some sea plants. Was she waiting for someone?

No body was around but me and her but suddenly a weird object appeared at the surface of the water, Summer seen it too.

It was quite far out in the deeper part of the sea, but it looked interesting. Summer began to swim over the edge and into the deep and dark ocean. She headed for the weird floating object.

"Summer no don't go out there!" I screamed while falling out of the sea plants, she turned around and looked at me angrily.

"Winter? You were following me!"

"I'm worried about you okay?! Father told us to never go over the deep edge come back!" I said as my voice began to shake, she laughed at me.

"Oh Winter. I'm an technically a meradult now and I don't need dad. I can do what I want and sometimes you have to take risks, it's what life is about" She said while folding her arms and spreading a cheeky grin across her face. I looked down at the deep and dark hole under the reef.

"Suit yourself! I'm going for this object" Summer said while pointing up ward, she swam quickly towards it. I sat anxiously at the side of the reef, watching her every move.

Everything was silent.. Until.
The object began to rock back and forth quickly and Summer was right beside it. Something was thrown into the water, it looked like a net!

"Summer?... Summer come back!!!" I screamed, she glanced over at me while tilting her head.

"There's nothing to be scared-"

And then she was gone.
