Chapter Twenty

- Summer's POV -

I don't get why dad told us that humans were evil, I think they are nice. I can't blame the guy who caught me in a net and showed me to the world, if you caught a mythical creature out of the blue wouldn't you?

Every person who is visiting me in this tank always have huge smiles on their faces, especially all the young girls. They have a sparkle in their eye as they jump around with excitement at the sight of me. It sort of makes me happy.

I feel better here than back in the cave with my grumpy dad and annoying sisters, I get fed lots too.

Maybe I should just change my name to Hannah..

- Heidi's POV -

It was extremely cold sitting on the damp plastic chairs which were on the boat, I was shivering. Dad and his friends were at each end of the boat with their nets and fishing rods, I was made to guard the back of the boat.

It was very peaceful sitting in the middle of the sea, away from the troubles of being on land.. I wish I was a mermaid. Everything was silent but the water crashing against the boat, it was sort of putting me to sleep...

- Winter's POV -

I swam quickly out of the reef and towards the beach hoping that Maria wasn't following behind me, that would be a distaster.

The guards were gone now, they thought that no body would be dumb enough to leave the reef as we all know there are humans looking for us. But obviously I have other plans.

I was almost at the beach until a familar object caught the corner of my eye. I stopped swimming and looked up, it was the boat that took Summer. I automatically felt angry, I wanted to go up there and give them a piece of my mind. But I would be captured too.

I am probably the stupidest mermaid for making decisions because I swam up anyway. I swam slowly towards the boat, not shouting and dancing around like Summer did.

As soon as I got to the surface I slowly poked my head out of the water, causing it to make no sound at all. There seemed to be no body on this side of the object except for someone sleeping. I swam closer and touched the weird floating object, which made the person jump up and look down. I gasped and let go quickly but before I went back under the water I glanced up at the person, I knew that face.. It was Heidi!

"Heidi?" I said loudly in shock. She looked over the object side and stared at me.

"I-I can explain!" She said in a panic, the anger was surely coming back.

"You stole my sister?! You were the one who was on this object when she was took! You lied to me!" I shouted, my eyes began to steam up and so were my cheeks.

"No! Its not like that I promise you please let me explain!" Heidi said, she looked really scared. There was water streaming down her face and her hands were shaking.

"No, I don't want to talk to you ever again!" I screamed before diving back under the water and swimming away.

Suddenly I got a striking pain in my arm which made it hard for me to even move. I was in the deep and dark part of the ocean where there was a huge drop if you didn't stop swimming. But I couldn't, so I began to fall.

- Heidi's POV -

"Winter! Please!" I shouted in tears, I've just lost my only friend. I fell onto the boat floor and curled into a ball.

"Heidi? Whats wrong?" Dad said peering over me, I hid my face and cried silently.

"Who is Winter?"

"NO ONE!" I screamed before getting up and walking away. I am so done with myself.
