- Heidi's POV -
I woke up to the sound of the waves, the sun in my eyes, sand stuck to me all over and someone oddly platting and combing my hair. I looked back to see a mermaid glistening in the sunlight, she smiled at me. Was I dreaming? Of course I wasn't.
"Winter?!" I shouted before jumping up but then automatically falling down at the pain in my head, she reached up for me.
"No no don't stress. You fell and hit your head" She explained, I sat down beside her and began to admire her tail.
"Isn't it dangerous for you to be sitting on a beach? Every fisherman is looking for mermaids now" I told her but she giggled.
"It's amazing on land! Way better than under the water"
I stretched my arm back and grabbed my hair which was in a perfect plat, Winter smiled at me.
"Your hair looks beautiful!" She shouted happily. Until someone caught my eye.
There entering the beach was my dad, he was coming down for his boat.
"Winter, you have to go" I said quickly while standing up and dusting the sand from my wet sticky clothes.
"What? No it's lovely here" She frowned.
"No I'm serious. The fishermen are here" I demanded while kneeling down and trying to lift her up. Mermaids are surprisingly very heavy.
"Will you be okay?" She asked while I carried her back over to the water.
"Of course I will" I answered with a smile, she placed her hand on the back of my head which extremely hurt.
"Wait!" She shouted as I tried to pull away, but then the soreness was gone.
"What did you do?" I asked while she swam out a bit further.
"Magic!"
Then she was gone.
- Winter's POV -
I felt really happy in that moment, and brave.
I know my sister is still missing but I've made a friend and that's hard to do when you're a fish. Especially with a human.
Then I remembered that I had broke out of the cave and swam away, father is going to be so angry at me. So I swam home slowly.
"Winter!" Someone shouted, I turned around quickly to see my friend Maria swimming behind me with her arms crossed.
"Where were you?" She asked, I gulped and smiled nervously.
"I just went for a swim. I have a lot on my mind at the minute Maria" I said quickly. Me and Maria weren't the closest of friends but she was the only one I ever had. She would only ever appear when I was busy or up to no good.
"Oh, well that's fine" She answered before swimming away, I took a sigh of relief and continued swimming home.
